We’ll screen The Mood of America a 1968 BBC documentary about Marin’s own journey with school desegregation. The stories, frustrations, and hopes captured over 50 years ago still feel strikingly relevant today.

Stay for a meaningful Q&A discussion as we ask together: Have we really changed since 1968?

American Mexican history that I had not heard of until recently. This was a very interesting and disturbing story of what the United States did to Mexicans in the 1900’s.

In 1917, El Paso officials enacted a policy of disinfection and fumigation for Mexicans. This is the disturbing history of gas baths on the U.S.-Mexico border.

A little reminder for this Halloween!

Sure, you want your house to look as scary as possible. But certain haunting images are better left in the past.

Coming to San Anselmo, California!

DĂa de los Mu***os Celebration at Imagination Park

11/2/2023 6:00 pm - 11/2/2023 8:00 pm
We are so grateful to be back and have this special opportunity to dance and celebrate the 6th Annual DĂa De Los Mu***os celebration in Imagination Park in San Anselmo.

🎉 Thursday November the 2nd: Join us at Imagination Park at 6:00pm for a live celebration featuring Traditional Aztec Dancers and enchanting music.

After the brief performance, follow the Aztec Dancers from Imagination Park, with a short procession down San Anselmo Avenue to Taco Jane's, where we'll continue the 2nd part of the celebration by honoring all the spirits on the altar who have made the long journey back to join us for this special night, with a ceremonial cleansing of the altar.

The ceremonial dancers will then cleanse and purify the space with a special Copal incense, with the belief that its smoke and aromatic scent aids in the connection to the departed being able to come back and find the altar from there long journey.

Celebration begins on Thursday November 2nd 2023 at 6:00pm - Imagination Park

Taco Jane's is honored to bring this important and meaningful cultural event to San Anselmo each year, celebrating and honoring the values of community, family, and tradition.

Please read this before you put on a Sombrero, a mustache, and start drinking tequila and a Corona!

“Cinco de Mayo is probably one of the most extreme and obvious examples of corporate-driven cultural appropriation of something that is pretty insignificant in the Mexican community, historically,” said Arturo Aldama, associate chair and associate professor in the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Besides using the day as an excuse to guzzle their favorite "Mexican" alcoholic beverages, most people have no idea what they're actually celebrating.

The report shows officers making jokes about people they arrest and it documents bias in some arrests.
