Command leadership, Sailors, and civilians assigned to Naval Medical Forces Development Command attended the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, commemorating the 25-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks that claimed 2,977 lives.

Rear Adm. Walter Brafford, commander, Naval Medical Forces Development Command, administered the civil service oath of office to Mr. Vincent Villanueva, at the headquarters building, Sept. 8, 2026.

Villanueva joins the DEVCOM team as the new director of the Healthcare Interservice Training Office (HC-ITRO), where he will lead an administrative and strategic unit focused on standardizing and coordinating medical training across the services.

Naval Medical Forces Development Command (NMFDC) hosted a command picnic at the headquarters building, Sept. 9, 2026. ☀🍔

In addition to the potluck-style lunch, co****le, and some of the team members cooling off in the dunk tank, Rear Adm. Walter Brafford, commander, NMFDC, presented Mrs. Summer Camacho, the command's ombudsman, with a command ball cap and letter of appreciation in recognition of Ombudsman Appreciation Month.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the event's success and thank you to the DEVCOM team for your dedication and teamwork in continuing to the advance the mission of developing and sustaining the Navy's medical forces. ⚕
