Long-time Honor Guard member Bobby Ford has passed away. Bobby retired in 2022 after serving 35 years with our department. In addition to his decades of dedicated service to our Honor Guard team, he was a role model and mentor for hundreds of paramedics throughout our department. He was extremely active in our Union, serving as the PR Committee chairman, Athletic Committee chairman, Fiesta parades coordinator, Cancer Awareness promoter, and so much more. We will truly miss his ever-present smile, his jaunty uniform hat, and custom-length coat sleeve. His services will be this coming Monday and Tuesday; we will render retiree Honors in accordance with his wife's wishes.

We are honored that the Mabank Fire Department allowed our members to come to Mabank and share their burden as they struck their Final Alarm for Chief Charlie Woodard.

We join the U.S. Wildland Fire Service and the U.S. Forest Service in mourning the loss of three wildland firefighters who died battling the Knowles and Gore fires on Saturday. We will keep their families as well as the two additional firefighters that sustained injuries in our prayers.

The U.S. Wildland Fire Service is devastated to share that three wildland firefighters lost their lives on Saturday, June 27, as part of an interagency response to the Knowles and Gore fires along the Colorado-Utah border. Additionally, two crew members were injured in the line of duty and have been transported to a hospital.

Our immediate focus is on supporting their families, friends, and fellow crewmates during this incredibly difficult time.

The U.S. Wildland Fire Service stands united with the USDA Forest Service in grief and in our unwavering support for the loved ones left behind. Their bravery, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
