As we prepare for tonight’s San Antonio Spurs game, we want to remind everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly during any festivities.

Let’s treat one another with respect, we’re all celebrating for the same reason: our San Antonio Spurs.

While you’re enjoying the moment in Downtown or on Military Dr., please keep the safety of others in mind as well. And, always follow the lawful orders of all the officers keeping everyone safe during the celebrations.

Let’s show the world how we celebrate here in San Antonio, Texas—with pride, class, and unity.

Go Spurs Go!

Constituents of Precinct #1, Bexar County Residents and Commissioner’s Court of Bexar County,

It was brought to our attention that there has been a recurring issue that is being circulated on social media and finally at Commissioners Court, the issue regarding the absence of body cams for my office is being put in the forefront as a sham to my community. To include the County wide policy of Body cams , which relates to the releasing of body cam footage within a set timeline and not the mandated wearing of body cams.

This was voted on December 7th, 2021, Commissioners Court at 1 hour and fifty minutes video timeline, https://bexarcountytx.new.swagit.com/videos/197136
Under Texas Law ( Code of Criminal Procedure) only Law Enforcements Agencies that are given a grant for body cams are mandated to wear the body cams on duty.

I have included in this posting two emails that relate to the subject of body cams from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. The Bexar County Sheriffs Office has been truly a champion for my office in providing my office updated information and guidance regarding the Body Cams, Taser and In-Vehicle Cameras for our patrol vehicles.

Sheriff Javier Salazar, Chief Deputy Serrato and Captain Von Muldau, all have been a great help in ensuring that when these items arrive, they will distribute them to my office in a timely and organized manner.

The Bexar County Sheriffs Office has also volunteered to provide my office with lesson plans to assist in the training of the equipment once it arrives and is distributed.

The process in obtaining the forementioned items is a lengthy one due to the procedures that must be followed from getting quotes, approval of a contract, then the authorization from the Bexar County Commissioners to the Budget Division and then to the Purchasing Division.

Both the Bexar County Budget Division and Bexar County Purchasing Division are doing their best to get this huge project moving in the proper direction.

I am including email correspondences between my Chief Deputy Rodriguez, and Captain Von Muldau regarding the discussion of the body cam issue. In these emails, you will clearly read that there are no Body Cams to be issued, No Tasers to be issued or any In Vehicles Cameras to be issued. This email is one of other emails that have been exchanged since June 2024 with Chief Deputy Serrato and Captain Von Muldau regarding the body cams and other related equipment.

I openly welcome these items as they are excellent tools to assist my deputies in the field and for the expediency in the evidentiary process to include the safety aspect of the public. Once we received these items or a timeline for distribution from the Bexar County Sheriffs Office, I will post it on this page.

I plan to have an open demonstration for the public to show off this equipment that our Bexar County Judge and Commissioners, to include the Bexar County Sheriffs have assisted us in obtaining for my office.

I thank you for your time and God Bless us all.

Your Humble servant
Constable Ruben C. Tejeda – Pct #1

With the playoffs in full swing and our very own Spurs in the Western Conference Finals, the excitement is real!

We ask everyone taking part in any post game festivities to do so with class, respect and safety in mind.

This is nothing new to our city, we’ve been here before with our 5 time champs. Let’s show the world how to celebrate the right way by following officers’ lawful orders and traffic laws during any of the festivities.

Let’s represent San Antonio with pride and show why we are a first-class community.
