Precinct 1 is excited to announce a new partnership with Harlandale High School’s Criminal Justice Practicum Program!

Each week, students will spend time with our team, shadowing deputies and taking part in classroom instruction to learn the ins and outs of how a Constable’s Office operates.

Welcome aboard, Harlandale students! We’re very happy to have you.

And welcome back to our McCollum High School Students who have been with us for several years now, we’re glad to have you back with our team!

May we never forget those we lost. May we continue to honor the heroes who answered the call that day, as well as all those who served our country in the years that followed. And may we never take for granted the freedoms, resilience, and enduring spirit that unite us as Americans.

Today, we remember.
Today, we honor.
And today, as always, we will never forget.

August is Overdose Awareness Month.

Precinct 1 Deputies recently took part in Narcan refresher training provided by the Bexar County Preventive Health Division.

During the training, our deputies learned how to recognize the signs of an overdose, identify current drug trends, understand what naloxone is, and how to properly administer it to someone experiencing an overdose.

In addition to the training, our deputies were equipped with Narcan kits so they are prepared to respond when needed.

Today, Constable Ruben C. Tejeda attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Harlandale ISD Edmundo M. Zaragoza Multipurpose Center, which will serve students, staff, families, and the community.

The building is named in honor of the late Justice of the Peace, Judge Edmundo M. Zaragoza, who dedicated many years of service to our community.

As schools prepare to welcome students back next week, we'd like to remind everyone that Precinct 1 deputies will be actively patrolling school zones to help ensure motorists are following all traffic laws throughout our school districts.

Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with your local school zone hours. Most school zones are in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with some schools extending school zone hours until 5:00 p.m. Be sure to watch for posted signs, obey the reduced speed limits, and stay alert for students, school buses, and crossing guards. And, if you see suspicious activity around the school, report it to the police or school staff.

To all of our students, teachers, staff, and parents, we wish you a safe, successful, and memorable 2026–2027 school year!
