🎶Vinyl Collection Find: R. Crumb & His Cheap Suit Serenaders! 🎨
You never know what you’ll uncover while working through a vinyl collection! This time, we found the 1974 debut album by R. Crumb & His Cheap Suit Serenaders.
Best known as a pioneering—and controversial—figure in underground comix, Robert “R.” Crumb created Fritz the Cat, Mr. Natural, and the famous “Keep on Truckin’” imagery. He was also a lifelong fan and collector of early American blues, jazz, ragtime, and string-band music.
That passion led Crumb, Robert Armstrong, and Al Dodge to form the Cheap Suit Serenaders, recording their first album in 1974 and bringing the sounds of the 1920s and ’30s to a new generation.
