This week, we wrapped up another successful training course as members of our department completed the three-day MSA G1 Technician/Train-the-Trainer program.

This training plays a critical role in ensuring our MSA G1 SCBA and facepieces are properly maintained, updated, and kept in service, allowing us to continue providing safe and reliable respiratory protection for our personnel.

A special thank you to our instructor, Scott Shepherd, who traveled from Canada to lead the course. His knowledge, experience, and hands-on instruction gave our technicians a deeper understanding of the MSA G1 system and helped strengthen our department’s ability to maintain this critical life-saving equipment.

Thank you, Scott, for sharing your expertise and helping invest in the safety and readiness of our department.

Attendees:
Captain Paul Bourne
Captain John Vasquez
Firefighter Randy Simeon
Firefighter Micah Adams
Firefighter George G. Hall
Firefighter Eduardo Garza

🚒 Pump Testing Day 💦

Today, our crews conducted annual pump testing to ensure our apparatus are operating at peak performance and ready to answer the call when our community needs us most.

Pump testing verifies that each engine can deliver the required water flow and pressure under demanding conditions, ensuring our equipment meets performance standards and remains reliable during emergency operations.

These behind-the-scenes training and maintenance events may not always make the headlines, but they are a critical part of keeping our firefighters prepared and our community protected.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make today’s testing a success. Readiness isn’t just a goal—it’s a commitment.

Always ready. Always prepared. 🇺🇸🚒

This Monday and Tuesday, personnel from across the Air Force Reserve Command gathered at Fire Station 2 to participate in MSA C.A.R.E. Technician Training.

The course was instructed by C.A.R.E. Technicians Steve Sherrow and George G. Hall, providing students with the knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to inspect, maintain, and service MSA respiratory protection equipment.

Upon successful completion of the training, all participants earned their certification as MSA C.A.R.E. Technicians, further enhancing the Air Force Reserve’s ability to maintain operational readiness and ensure firefighter safety.

Congratulations to all of the newly certified technicians! 🚒👏

From Ceremony to Service! JOB WELL DONE

Members of the JBSA Fire & Emergency Services Color Guard proudly presented the colors during the San Antonio Missions baseball game, representing the Air Force and the Fire Service with professionalism, pride, and honor.

Following the event, while traveling back to base, the team encountered a vehicle rollover on the highway. Without hesitation and still in service uniforms, they stopped to assist. One firefighter crawled behind the vehicle and began to help remove the occupant while the remaining members immediately began rendering aid using available resources from their support vehicle until additional emergency responders arrived.

Their actions serve as a reminder that firefighters remain committed to serving others, whether standing in formation at a ceremonial event or responding to an emergency when seconds matter.

Please join us in recognizing:
Staff Seargant Brantley
Senior Airman Fettinger
Senior Airman Evans-Austin
Senior Airman Morris
Senior Airman Gonzalez-Zamora
