The 1902 Clark Family House, located at 301 E. Main St. in San Augustine, Texas, is a historic property with ties to the Clark family, who were prominent in the area's early development. Originally built by Captain Edward D. Downs and then later passed on to his daughter Leila Clark-Downs who grew up in the house as well as her family. She passed away while living in the house in 1975 at the age of 94. The house then passed to her son Edward Aubrey Clark, who was a prominent Austin, Texas based attorney and also former U.S. Ambassador to Australia.....as well as being President LBJ's close friend and his legal counsel.

One of our special guest upstairs bedrooms as it starts its Victorian transformation. 1902 Captain Edward D. Downs House - we will have two bedrooms for our special guests so that they can truly feel and experience the past very interesting history of this house...and its past interesting owner ghosts.

For our other guests who come for our evening events & tours and want to stay overnight, , we are going to work something with Bland Lake Hideaway which is just a few miles from the house and town of San Augustine, Texas. They have amazing cabins to stay in.
