Are we Super Bowl bound?...maybe not but we've got a very talented group of LEO's here at SBPD and they set out to compete at the 2026 Texas Police Games in the Flag Football 🏈 and Kayak Fishing divisions. Although, the results were not in our favor, we still want to give a shout out to the RESACA PIGGIES 🐽🐷for their efforts. It was a day of fun, competition and pride building for sure. Great job out there! Fishing 🐟 results will be in later this week. Special shout out to the Lieutenant Milton Resendez Foundation for sponsoring the jerseys and refreshments for the tournament.

The annual “Click It or Ticket ” campaign reminds Texans to always buckle up day and night in every seat. Currently, 90% of Texans buckle up, yet too many crashes turn deadly because someone wasn't wearing a seat belt. In 2025, 965 people who died in traffic crashes on Texas roads were not buckled up.

Wearing a seat belt reduces the risk of dying in a crash by 45% for people in the front seat of passenger cars. For those in pickups, a seat belt reduces that risk by 60%. Your seat belt is designed to keep you from being thrown into the dashboard or windshield—or even onto the road. An airbag can be a big lifesaver. But airbags need seat belts to work safely. Buckle up to stay securely in your seat and minimize the risk of injury or death from the airbag's impact.

Texas law requires all drivers and passengers to buckle up or face fines and court costs of up to $200. Children younger than 8 years must be in a child car seat or booster seat unless they’re taller than 4 feet 9 inches. If they aren’t properly restrained, the driver faces fines up to $250 plus court costs.

A Campaign Proven to Save Lives

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that the Click It or Ticket initiative in Texas has saved more than 8,600 lives, prevented 157,000 serious injuries, and resulted in more than $35 billion in economic savings since its launch in 2002
