San Bernardino Eggstravaganza Returns March 28 at Lytle Creek Park!

On Saturday, March 28, the City of San Bernardino Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department will host its annual “Eggstravaganza” from 12:00 to 4:00 pm at Lytle Creek Park, located at 380 South K Street.

This free event provides a great opportunity for families to come together, enjoy fun activities, and participate in one of the region’s largest egg hunts! This year there will be approximately 30,000 eggs and hunt participants will be divided by age group to allow for a more enjoyable experience for all.

In addition to the egg hunt, activities will include bouncers, exciting games, hands-on craft stations, local food vendors, giveaways, festive music, a face painter, and photos with the bunny!

Egg Hunt times are as follows:
1:00 pm: Ages 1–3
1:30 pm: Ages 4–6
2:30 pm: Ages 7–9
3:00 pm: Ages 10–12

Bring your baskets, the whole family, and invite your friends for a fun-filled day of egg-citing surprises!

Large Scale EV Truck Charging Coming to San Bernardino!

The greening of the logistics industry in San Bernardino continues as EV Realty Group broke ground on a new EV charging facility for electric big rig trucks at their Mill Street location on Thursday, September 16.

When they open later in 2026, EV Realty Group CEO Patrick Sullivan announced that the 10-megawatt location will be able to charge up to 76 big rigs at a time!

With 76 charging stations, this will make this facility one of the largest EV charging stations in the region.

Mt Vernon Bridge Opening - Only One Month Away!

The wait is (almost) over! The Mt. Vernon Bridge will re-open to traffic on Saturday, August 23rd.

There will be a community celebration to mark the occasion starting at 9:30 am that will feature a ribbon cutting, booths from local businesses, a classic car show, the opportunity to walk the bridge, and more!

Later that afternoon, the bridge will once again be opened for traffic.

Make your plans to "Boogie on the Bridge" on August 23rd!

The Mt. Vernon Avenue Bridge replacement project spans over one of the largest rail yards in the region. Originally built in 1934, the iconic structure in San Bernardino, the Mt. Vernon Avenue Bridge connected communities on the west side of San Bernardino for 86 years, serving as a vital link for residents, visitors, students, and businesses. Prior to its closure, approximately 60,000 motorists used the bridge every day.

After being deemed structurally deficient, the bridge closed to the public in December 2020 and was demolished in April 2021, making way for a new bridge.

The City of San Bernardino (City) and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) partnered with the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) to rebuild the bridge. The project has been challenging as the construction had to take place without disrupting the rail yard.

The Mt. Vernon Bridge spans over 22 active rail lines. It crosses the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad mainlines, storage tracks, and intermodal yard, as well as tracks used by regional commuter rail (Metrolink) and Amtrak. The bridge provides the only arterial crossing over the rail lines in the area.

A total of 53 girders between 90 and 182 feet long were used to complete the quarter mile long span of the bridge. Nine of the girders are 182 feet long, weigh 250,000 pounds each, and are the longest pre-cast girders made for a bridge in California.
