We were honored to welcome Dr. Corey A. Jackson, Assemblymember for California’s 60th District and proud CSUSB alumnus, to campus earlier this month for a conversation with social work students.

Drawing from his journey in public service,
Assemblymember Corey Jackson discussed the vital role community organizing plays in shaping legislative priorities and advancing public policy. He also reflected on how his background in social work continues to inform his approach to leadership, advocacy, and decision-making.

Dr. Jackson's insights offered valuable inspiration and guidance for students interested in careers in policy, advocacy, and public leadership. Thank you, Dr. Jackson, for investing in changemakers.

Professor Yawen Li of the CSUSB School of Social Work led a group of students, including social work students, on an immersive study abroad experience in China.

Students explored major institutions and cultural landmarks while gaining firsthand insight into healthcare systems, community practices, and everyday life. The program provided a meaningful opportunity to examine how care and well-being vary across different cultural contexts.

Reflecting on the experience, Professor Li shared: “When students engage directly with different healthcare systems and cultural approaches to well-being, their perspectives expand and become more complete in meaningful ways—especially in how they understand care across cultures.” https://www.csusb.edu/inside/article/596026/csusb-students-explore-chinas-healthcare-culture-immersive-study-abroad
