It’s Child Abuse Prevention Month. Here in California, Senator Senator Shannon Grove has introduced a measure recognizing April as a time to raise awareness and prioritize the protection of children. While symbolic, this resolution highlights the importance of strengthening the systems that support youth who have experienced abuse or neglect.

Court Appointed Special Advocate® (CASA) volunteers play a critical role—standing up for children and helping ensure they have a safe, stable future.

Last Friday, we celebrated our newly sworn-in CASA Volunteers! 🎉
Four incredible CASA volunteers completed their training and were officially sworn in to the Juvenile Dependency Court. We are so excited for them to begin their advocacy on behalf of youth in need.
We’re also proud to share that our newest Advocate Supervisor, Emma De La Cruz, was sworn in alongside the group!
Welcome to the CASA family—we’re so grateful to have you all!

Today, we celebrate transgender youth, caregivers, and community members.

We also reaffirm our commitment to creating safe, affirming spaces where every child feels seen, respected, and supported.

Children in foster care deserve caring adults who honor who they are and advocate for their well-being—every step of the way.

Today we celebrate the work of Dolores Huerta and the United Farm Workers Union, whose unrelenting advocacy secured historic rights for workers and communities. We draw inspiration from Huerta's powerful words to make each minute a chance to make the world a better place for children, families, and communities.

We continue to honor the brave testimony of survivors working for change. Their courage makes room for ours.

Our new space in the Enterprise Building is the next step in growing our program, but what we’re really building is a safe, trauma-informed space for youth and volunteers to feel seen, supported, and empowered.
Help us bring this vision to life!

Do you know a young person currently or formerly in foster care? They may qualify for a $1,189 tax credit.

This financial support can help with:
• Everyday living expenses
• Rising food costs
• Tuition or education expenses not covered by financial aid
• Professional attire for job interviews
• And so much more

Many eligible youth may not know this credit exists. Help raise awareness by sharing this information with your network. One conversation could make a meaningful difference.

✨ “I think you are wonderful and kind… I am very happy I have you.” ✨

This heartfelt note, written by a youth to their CASA volunteer, is a reminder of the life-changing impact a consistent, caring adult can have. Once feeling alone and misunderstood, this young person now recognizes something incredibly important: they are loved.

CASA volunteers show up, stay present, and remind youth that their story isn’t over. Ready to make a difference in a local foster youth’s life?

More than 300 children in foster care are waiting for a dedicated advocate.

In a recent conversation with host Ken Alan from Alan Media, our team shared how each CASA volunteer can help change a child’s path. By stepping forward, volunteers provide a consistent, caring presence for a child navigating uncertainty while helping ensure their voice is heard.

This is more than a number. It represents 300 individual stories, each one waiting for someone to stand beside them.

This month, we are proud to recognize a CASA volunteer whose greatest accomplishment is also one of the most powerful: being a consistent presence.

We are honored to highlight Francis Olivas, one of our dedicated CASA volunteers. She has provided steady compassion and unwavering support through both the highs and lows, always advocating for her youth’s well-being and best interests.

Even as placements changed and challenges arose, Francis remained a constant. She has been a strong yet thoughtful voice in Child and Family Team Meetings (CFTMs). By not only attending but actively advocating, she has helped drive meaningful progress.

For many of the youth we serve, consistency can be rare. However, with volunteers like Francis, we help ensure they have a dependable adult—someone who listens, follows through, and truly believes in them.

Her compassion and advocacy embody the heart of our mission and remind us of the extraordinary difference one person can make.
