TikTok Chromebook Fire Trend

A concerning TikTok trend has emerged that involves students attempting to short-circuit Chromebooks to start fires. National reports indicate that the trend is gaining traction on social media, with students using items like mechanical pencil lead, staples, or metal to damage the Chromebook charging ports and batteries. A recent news story from a Connecticut school district highlights this dangerous trend. Fires have been reported which can cause injuries and property damage.

Parents, please remind your student that they are expected to use District technology safely, responsibly, and for educational purposes only.
