The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office announced today, following a joint press conference in Chino Hills, that criminal charges have been filed against Jianquan Bo, 66, of Irvine, for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping and murder of Aikebaer Shukur of Chino Hills.

During the press conference, District Attorney Jason Anderson, joined by San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus and Sgt. Nicholas Clark from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Investigations Division, provided updates and outlined the charge.

Count 1) Murder — PC187
Special Allegations of aiding and abetting in commission of a kidnapping and use of a firearm.

During today’s briefing, District Attorney Jason Anderson emphasized the extensive collaborative investigation conducted by both agencies and confirmed that the murder charge against Defendant Bo is applicable under the theory that the Defendant allegedly planned to and aided in the harm, kidnapping and death of the victim.

The San Bernardino County District Attorney Bureau of Victim Services has assigned a Victim Advocate to support the victim’s family throughout the judicial process. The advocate will provide resources, assistance, and ongoing communication to ensure the family remains informed of their rights at every step.

Defendant Bo’s arraignment is scheduled to take place at Rancho Cucamonga Superior Courthouse. Date, time and department is to be determined.

This week, we gathered to honor a remarkable legacy and welcome a new chapter for the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Bureau of Investigation.
After more than four decades of distinguished law enforcement service, Chief Investigator Eric Hopley retired, leaving behind a career defined by integrity, humility, and a steadfast dedication to justice. His guidance has shaped the Bureau, strengthened our communities, and set a lasting example for future generations.

"It's been an honor to have Chief Hopley by my side since I came into office in 2019. I have seen firsthand how his direction helped define what this Bureau stands for today-professionalism, strong ethical standards, and a clear sense of purpose," said District Attorney Jason Anderson. "I am deeply grateful for his decades of service and look forward with great confidence to Chief Mayfield's stewardship as he leads the Bureau of Investigation into its next chapter."

As Chief Hopley's remarkable tenure comes to a close, his legacy provides a strong foundation for the future. Building on that legacy, we now welcome Chief Investigator Chad Mayfield as the Bureau's new leader. Having served in every rank within the DA's Bureau of Investigation, Chief Mayfield brings extensive experience and a deep dedication to our mission. He assumes command at an exciting time for the Bureau.

We look forward to the vision and professionalism he will bring as he guides the next generation of investigators in service to our communities.
Congratulations to Chief Hopley on an exceptional career, and congratulations to Chief Mayfield as he takes the helm.

The future of the Bureau of Investigation is in capable hands.

The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office announces that Defendant Nathaniel Jeriah Cason has been sentenced to 17 years in state prison for human trafficking of a minor, following his conviction for:

• PC 236.1(c)(1) – Human Trafficking of a Minor
• PC 266i(b)(2) – Pandering a Minor Under 16 (stayed under PC 654)
• PC 236.4 – Prior Human Trafficking Conviction Enhancement

This case was brought forward and successfully prosecuted through the dedicated work of our Human Trafficking Unit, whose mission is to protect the most vulnerable and aggressively pursue those who exploit minors. Evidence presented at trial showed that Cason targeted and recruited a 15‑year‑old victim in an area known for commercial sexual exploitation.

By securing this conviction, our Office continues its commitment to eradicate traffickers from our community, removing dangerous perpetrators from our streets, and strengthening the safety and wellbeing of San Bernardino County.

Congratulations to San Bernardino County Deputy District Attorney Deep Juneja, honored as MADD’s Prosecutor of the Year!

Since joining the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office in August 2024, DDA Deep Singh Juneja has made an immediate impact on the Misdemeanor team at the San Bernardino Justice Center. In just ten months, he took eight DUI cases to trial—three involving solo or non‑injury collisions that highlight how dangerous impaired driving is for everyone on the road.

Several defendants had prior DUI convictions, and one was even on probation, but Deep didn’t hesitate to bring these tough cases forward. His strong partnerships with CHP, Colton PD, San Bernardino PD, and Redlands PD have strengthened investigations and helped secure meaningful outcomes that hold offenders accountable.

Deep’s fearless trial work, meticulous preparation, and unwavering commitment to public safety are making San Bernardino County’s roads safer for all of us.

A well‑deserved recognition! Congratulations, Deep!

This Mother’s Day, we honor the strength, courage, and love of mothers throughout our community; especially those who have endured the unimaginable.

To the mothers who have lost a child to violence, to the mothers who have survived violent crime, and to all who are missing their mothers today, we see your pain, your resilience, and your unwavering hope.

Your stories guide our mission every single day. They remind us why justice matters — not in the abstract, but in the lives of real families who deserve safety, dignity, and accountability.

Today, we stand with you. We honor you. And we remain commited to the work of building a safer future for all.
