🚨 Now Open: Canyon Lake Exclusive Session!

The Lake Perris Junior Lifeguard Program is excited to announce Session 2, open exclusively to Canyon Lake participants! This special session will run from July 21 through July 31, 2025, and offers local youth the chance to dive into an unforgettable summer experience centered on Teamwork, Leadership, and Aquatic Safety.

Hosted at Lake Perris, the Junior Lifeguard Program introduces young people to safe aquatic recreation while promoting physical fitness, environmental awareness, and self-confidence. Open to students of all abilities, our program focuses on fun, safety, and personal growth.

Participants will take part in:
🏊‍♂️ Open water swimming
🏃 Beach runs
🛶 Kayaking & paddle boarding
🚨 CPR & first aid training
🤝 Team-building activities
🌲 Nature hikes and environmental education

First-time participants must complete a swim competency test. Swim Tryout Dates are Friday, June 20th, 2025 at 4:00 PM and Saturday, June 21st, 2025 at 9:00 AM. Tryouts will be held at Moreno Beach at Lake Perris SRA. Closest parking lot is Parking Lot 8, proceed to Lifeguard Tower 7 on the beach. Test takes approximately 30 minutes

Our Lake Perris summer Junior Lifeguard program is now open for registration! Programs will be held at Lake Perris from July 7 through July 17, 2025. The Junior Lifeguard Program emphasizes Teamwork, Leadership, and Aquatic Safety while introducing young people to safe marine and aquatic recreation opportunities. The program is designed to provide quality water safety education while improving young people’s physical conditioning, their understanding and respect for the environment, and their respect for themselves, their parents, and their peers. Students of all abilities and skill levels may participate.

All stages of the junior Lifeguard program have safety as a primary consideration. Junior Lifeguards will accomplish activities through instruction including: Team building, open water swimming, beach running, paddle boarding, hiking, kayaking, first aid / CPR training, aquatic rescue techniques all while having FUN!

IT'S A GREAT DAY TO BE A STATE PARKS LIFEGUARD 🚨

We are hosting lifeguard tryouts for Silverwood Lake Lifeguards at Lake Perris State Recreation Area for the 2025 summer season. Begin a rewarding and challenging career, become a Lifeguard for the California State Parks!

To become a State Parks Lifeguard, applicants will have to pass a qualifying swim test. A tryout will be hosted at Lake Perris SRA on Saturday, April 12 at 10 AM at Moreno Beach, Tower 7. Happy . Today, we pay tribute to all California State Park Lifeguards and Lifeguard Rangers, who stand together as frontline first responders in our State Parks. While known for keeping our beaches safe, our lifeguards face an array of emergencies each day, from rescues in turbulent waters to life-saving responses in car accidents, critical medical emergencies, and recreation-related injuries

Every day, our lifeguards enter their roles knowing the weight of the responsibility they carry. In moments of crisis, they bring not only skill but also compassion, often arriving first to offer aid, calm, and hope to those in distress. Their selflessness and unwavering commitment to visitor safety deserves a spotlight this .

Today, and every day, we thank our lifeguards for their bravery and dedication to keeping our parks safe.

LIFEGUARD TRYOUTS ARE TOMORROW! This is your chance to try out for the 2025 summer season and become a State Lifeguard.

⚠️EXCESSIVE HEAT ADVISORY An excessive heat advisory is in effect for San Bernardino and Riverside County starting today through late Saturday evening. Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. California State Parks is urging visitors to stay safe during the heat wave and to limit outdoor activity.

Avoid hiking in the heat, drink plenty of water, limit time spent in the sun, and wear proper sun protection (Hats, Sunglasses, Sunscreen). If heading to a waterway to cool off, wear a lifejacket, swim in designated areas, and actively supervise children. Avoid walking pets during extreme heat. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. If you or a loved one is overcome by heat, move to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 911 if you experience symptoms of a heat stroke. Remember to stay safe during this heat wave and to recreate responsibly.

It’s been a BUSY summer for our inland lakes and our guards have been working tirelessly to keep our beaches safe.

As the temperatures remain high, it’s important to stay hydrated and practice water safety. 🍂 With fall just around the corner, our lakes will start to calm down, offering a perfect opportunity to enjoy the serene beauty of the season.

While we rough out the rest of the season, stay safe and enjoy the lake! 🚤🌊
