Teaching kids to swim isn’t just about strokes and splashing—it’s about giving them the skills to feel secure in the water. Late-night lessons can be a great space for that. Fewer distractions, more one-on-one attention, and a chance to really practice the basics like floating, breathing, and knowing how to get to the wall.

SPRING AGE GROUP CHAMPS 2026
FRIDAY PRELIMS (Day 1 for us)
We are here! La Mirada California. The top of Southern California swimming. The best of the best! To put in perspective for WAG (winter age group champs) and JAG (June age group champs) there are 3 locations split up all around Southern California. For this meet they all come together. All 3 locations and all swimmers from Southern California and parts of Nevada. So with that being said congrats to the HYDRO swimmers and any swimmer for that matter who made it to this level. Up first and on our 1st (the meets 2nd day) we had all of our 100 Breaststroke swimmers starting with 10 and under Aydan Li. Aydan swam a fierce race and took 25th place out of all swimmers in his age in Southern California going a 1:26.80 with a lifetime best and dropping 2.01 seconds! What a great swim. Up next on the girls side was 11-12 Aashna Shah going a lifetime best with a 1:17.60 and dropping 1.31 seconds and taking 49th place overall in Southern California. Up next for the 13-14 girls is Sweet Pea Ormonde. Sweet Pea went a 1:08.87 and got her Sectional bonus cut. This is a SR level champs meet with no ages. It could be youth to adults. It’s a time they need to achieve to get there. She took 26th overall in Southern California Swimming. Great swim pea! Oh and lifetime best with a 1.22 second drop. Next up again is Sweet Pea in her 50 Freestyle going a 25.62 and taking 33rd place overall in Southern California. Up with 3 in a row is the Pea again in her 50 Butterfly! She swam tough, she swam hard, she even had a rough finish but she pulled out a 16th place finish and going into the consolation finals for tonight’s final session with the time of 27.32 and dropping .44 with a lifetime best. Way to make it back tonight Pea! Shooting over to the boys side we have 11-12 boy Mason Omonde swimming his 500 Freestyle. He dropped a huge 11.62 seconds and took 20th place overall for Southern California just aging up into the 11-12 age group. His time was a 5:34.08. Back to the girls side we had 11-12 girl Aashna swimming her 500 Freestyle and also going a lifetime best. She went a 6:02.39 dropping 4.04 seconds and taking 39th overall. This was impressive! Massive time drops for all. Day 1 done for us (prelims) let’s move over to finals.

FRIDAY FINALS
Up for this hot Friday we have Sweet Pea Ormonde swimming her consolation finals for her 50 Butterfly. She went into finals in 16th place and she came out in 15th place overall for Southern California so she took 1 girl out with a 27.55. Great swim and let’s see what we can do tomorrow.
