After suffering some heartbreaking losses to some highly ranked teams in the Etiwanda and Norco tournaments the last two weeks, Cajon got back in the win column on Thursday. Cajon who lost 3 games this past week in which they lost 3 run leads in the 7th inning finally closed out a 7-1 win over Summit HS. Cajon pounded out 16 hits with star sophomore 1st baseman Isabel Ravelo leading the way with a 4-4 game. Ravelo started off the Cajon scoring doubling home Jr. LSU bound SS Ci'Ella Pickett in the 1st inning. Ravelo would go on too add 3 more singles. Sr. Fullerton college bound 2B Hope Morales had 2 doubles and 3 RBI's. Alabama State commit 3B Nadine Juarez went 2-4 with a double and a run scored. Jr. RT fielder Sienna Garcia was 2-2 with a double a run scored and a RBI. Senior Ace pitcher Jada Villegas rested and healthy looked back in her 2022 California Player Year form giving up 1 run and striking out 8 pitching a complete game.

Cajon had been really struggling to get back in the win column since losing ace freshman pitcher Jada Villegas to a shoulder injury 6 games ago. Sr. Karina Carabajal, restored order for Cajon by pitching a complete game 6 hitter as Cajon beat Redlands 6-1 Thursday afternoon. Carabajal who is having a great senior year also went 1-3 at the plate with a RBI single and 2 stolen bases. Villegas was able to return to the line-up as a DH and had a RBI single in the 1st inning. Freshman outfielder Hope Morales was 2-3 with 2 RBIs. All league JR's SS Kim Rodas and 2nd baseman Vanessa Flores were very good as always. Rodas had 2 hits and 2 runs scored and Flores also had 2 hits a RS and an RBI. JR. KC Caldera continued her hot hitting with a 2 RBI single in the 1st inning. Sophomore catcher Sonia Garcia continued to play excellent defense behind the plate. In 3 games so far she has thrown out 3 of 4 base runners attempting to steal.

Jr. SS Kim Rodas lead off the game with a booming HR and Cajon never looked back evening their record to 1-1, with a 5-1 victory over Corona HS Thursday afternoon. Rodas went 3-4 with the HR, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Freshman Pitcher Jada Villegas was again spectacular on mound for the Cowgirls. Villegas won her 1st varsity game pitching a complete game with zero walks and 10 strike outs, giving her 22 K's in 2 games. Sr. Karina Carbajal was 2-4 with 2 doubles with 1 RS and 1 RBI. Sr. Lyric Torres was 2-4 with 1 RS, 1 RBI and 2 stolen bases. Cajon next takes on Corona Santiago Tuesday afternoon.

Cajon lost it's opening game 1-0 against Cerritos HS. Cerritos used 2 errors to score a run in the bottom 7th to win a fantastic pitchers duel. Freshman Jada Villegas was fantastic in her 1st varsity start. Jada gave up just the 1 unearned run and struck out 12. Cajon will try to get the bats going Thursday the 8th against Corona HS.

Cajon Varsity Softball will open the 2018 CIF play-offs with a game at Beaumont H.S. Thursday 5-17-18 at 3:15 pm.

Congratulations to the Varsity Cajon Softball Team, the Cowgirls beat Carter twice this weekend to clinch a spot in the play-offs. The ladies are now 17-8 overall and 8-4 in league. The Cowgirls conclude league play this week against REV. The CIF playoffs will start on either Monday or Tuesday next week. Come out today for senior day and watch the ladies play REV and enjoy some awesome tacos from Jessie’s Tacos.
