Here in the City with a Heart, we believe that keeping our community safe is a team effort. And that team extends well beyond the men and women wearing a badge or uniform!

Recently, Fire Chief Ku, Police Chief Lethin, and Police Captain Brandenburg had the pleasure of visiting the First Filipino-American United Church of Christ, where they spoke with members of the congregation about public safety, emergency preparedness, and the importance of community partnerships.

During the presentation, our Police and Fire leadership shared valuable information on preparing for emergencies, protecting our families and loved ones, and staying informed when the unexpected happens. Most importantly, they discussed how we can all work together to make San Bruno an even safer place to live, work, and visit.

🚔 BABY COME BACK! 🎶 SOME PEOPLE JUST CAN’T STAY AWAY FROM SAN BRUNO!

On October 7, 2026, at approximately 2:15 a.m., a San Bruno Police Officer observed two vehicles driving recklessly near Crystal Springs Road and Cunningham Way.

Believing the vehicles may have been involved in criminal activity in San Bruno or a neighboring city, the officer attempted to catch up and conduct a traffic stop. However, one of the vehicles had other plans and fled at a high rate of speed northbound on Interstate 280 toward San Francisco.

Rather than engaging in a potentially dangerous pursuit, officers continued their investigation and utilized Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras to obtain the license plate information for both vehicles.

Now, we’re not saying we wanted him to come back, but… 🎶

Just 20 minutes later, officers received information that one of the vehicles had returned to San Bruno.

Well, that was quick! We didn’t even have time to miss him! 😂

Officers located the vehicle near El Camino Real and Santa Lucia Avenue and conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, officers identified the driver as a 27-year-old South San Francisco resident and determined he was responsible for fleeing from the initial officer.

The driver was subsequently arrested on charges related to reckless driving.

While this driver may have thought he was getting away, our officers utilized good police work, available technology, and a little patience to bring the situation to a safe conclusion without the need for a dangerous vehicle pursuit.

At the San Bruno Police Department, we’re always happy to welcome visitors to our city. We just prefer they follow the rules of the road and don’t give us a reason to personally welcome them back!

🚨 SHOOTING SUSPECT ARRESTED AND FI***RM LOCATED 🚨

On October 8, 2026, at approximately 9:14 p.m., San Bruno Police Officers responded to the area of El Camino Real and San Marco Avenue after receiving reports of a male subject running in the roadway with a fi***rm.

Officers quickly arrived on scene but were unable to locate the subject. However, their investigation revealed that a shooting had occurred in the area, and officers located numerous spent shell casings. Through diligent investigative work, patrol officers identified a suspect and developed information that led them to a residence in the 100 block of San Marco Avenue.

With their investigation narrowing in on a suspect, detectives from the San Bruno Police Department’s Investigative Services Section (ISS), with assistance from patrol officers, executed a search warrant at the residence. During the operation, officers detained a 32-year-old male resident of San Francisco. A search of the residence led investigators to locate an unregistered fi***rm, along with spent shell casings and unspent am******on. Investigators also determined that the suspect was a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing fi***rms.

The suspect was subsequently arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on charges related to negligent discharge of a fi***rm and possession of a fi***rm by a prohibited person.

The San Bruno Police Department remains committed to keeping our community safe and holding those who engage in dangerous and unlawful behavior accountable. 🚨 HUMAN TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARREST 🚨

On Thursday, October 1, 2026, members of the San Bruno Police Department’s Investigative Services Section (ISS), Special Response Unit (SRU), and Patrol Division executed search warrants at locations on the 500 block of E San Bruno Ave in San Bruno and 100 block of Gardiner Ave in South San Francisco as part of an ongoing human trafficking and prostitution investigation.

This operation was the culmination of several years of investigative work by members of our Investigative Services Section. Throughout the investigation, our investigators worked diligently to develop leads, interview witnesses, gather evidence, and ultimately establish the probable cause necessary to obtain the search warrants.

During the operation, officers contacted two victims/survivors and connected them with resources and support services.

A 27-year-old South San Francisco resident was also detained and later arrested after officers developed probable cause for charges related to pandering.

Human trafficking can happen anywhere — including within our own communities. These investigations are about more than making arrests. They are about identifying victims, connecting them with help, disrupting criminal activity, and protecting the neighborhoods we serve.

The San Bruno Police Department would like to thank the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office, South San Francisco Police Department, San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force, Gang Investigations Unit, and Vehicle Theft Task Force for their assistance in the ex*****on of these search warrants.

The San Bruno Police Department remains committed to identifying and addressing human trafficking and s*x trafficking in our city. We also need the community’s help. UPDATE:

Thank you to the community members asking. We would like to now share that this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

ARREST MADE IN STABBING INVESTIGATION

On September 23, 2026, at approximately 1:05 p.m., San Bruno Police Officers responded to the 700 block of Kains Avenue regarding a reported stabbing.

Officers arrived and located the victim, who was being assisted by a Good Samaritan. The victim had suffered an apparent stab wound and was transported to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, where they are currently listed in stable condition.

During the investigation, officers identified and located a 32-year-old San Francisco resident believed to be responsible for the incident. The suspect was taken into custody and later booked into the San Mateo County Jail on charges related to assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident is being investigated by the San Bruno Police Department Investigative Services Section.

Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the San Bruno Police Department.

The San Bruno Police Department, along with our partners from the Burlingame Police Department and San Mateo Police Department, will be conducting a Pedestrian Safety Enforcement Operation today from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM near San Bruno Avenue and Masson Avenue.

Officers will be focusing on driving and pedestrian behaviors that commonly contribute to crashes, including failing to yield at crosswalks, unsafe turns, speeding, distracted driving, and unsafe pedestrian crossings.

Whether you’re behind the wheel, on a bike, or on foot, please slow down, stay alert, and look out for one another.

Today, the San Bruno Police Department solemnly remembers Chief Arthur G. Meehan, who gave his life in service to the San Bruno community.

Chief Meehan was fatally wounded after stopping a vehicle whose occupants had evaded a railroad crossing arm. The vehicle came to a stop in front of San Bruno City Hall, where the suspects opened fire on him. Chief Meehan succumbed to his injuries the following day at Mills Memorial Hospital on September 19, 1923.

Those responsible were later apprehended and convicted for his murder.

Chief Arthur G. Meehan served the San Bruno Police Department for eight years and was survived by his wife and daughter.

More than a century later, his sacrifice has not been forgotten. His courage, service, and dedication remain part of the enduring history of the San Bruno Police Department and the community he served.

Today, we honor his memory, reflect on his sacrifice, and remember a life given in service to others.
