The Friends of the Point Loma/Hervey Library present an Author Talk with Rohan Srinivasan featuring "An Imagined Life" on Monday, May 11th, 2026 at 6:30pm in the Marla Haas Community Room.

"An Imagined Life" is an adult literary fiction novel that follows Akash Patil from age eleven to eighteen as he undergoes a surreal coming-of-age that forces him to reckon with his grasp on memory, home, culture, and reality.

Rohan Srinivasan is a writer based out of California. He published his debut novel "An Imagined Life" at the age of 24. He holds a bachelor's in film and television production from the University of California. His favorite books are The Kite Runner, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and Swami and Friends.

The Friends of the Point Loma/Hervey Library present a National Poetry Month Celebration with "Readings from the 2025-26 San Diego Poetry Annual" hosted by Michael Klam on Monday, April 13th, 2026 at 6:30pm in the Marla Haas Community Room.

The 20th anniversary edition of the San Diego Poetry Annual features 342 poems from 338 poets, including the STEVE KOWIT POETRY PRIZE 2025 honorees, and many of the finest poets from our region and beyond.

Unravel the “magic” behind what you see, then step into a digital world of your own making! Kids will explore optical illusions by experimenting with magnifying glasses and mirrors to bend light, create dazzling effects, and learn how our eyes “see” with virtual reality. Then, they’ll dive into immersive worlds and wizarding wonders by donning an Oculus Quest VR headset to brew fantastical potions, mix chemistry compounds, and conjure unique creations in a magical VR Wizard Adventure!

The Friends of the Point Loma/Hervey Library present an Author Talk with David Reed featuring "Uphill and Into the Wind" on Monday, March 9th, 2026 at 6:30pm in the Marla Haas Community Room.

"Uphill and Into the Wind" recounts an odyssey that spans 5420 miles on bicycles and almost 2 months hiking in National Parks. Brimming with adventure, it chronicles the surprising glories of nature, the raw beauty of the land, and the ferocious grandeur of the American landscape.

David Reed has spent his lifetime studying the natural world, from his earliest days in the eastern forest, to his university training, to his travels on bicycle and on foot in the wilds of the United States. He is a landscape architect, a natural scientist, a published author and memoirist. His second book debuted last year.
