GOOD AFTERNOON DET 075,

During LLAB 10 we were given another opportunity to train at Camp Elliott. Once again both IMT and FTP cadets got to practice a variety of skills. They got to work on scenarios we are unable to do on campus and got to work in new teams. Being able to work with other people is what can help make you a great leader. You need to understand your people and know how to utilize them to the best of their ability. You will oftentimes go into situations where you are not fully comfortable but it is up to you to be able to adapt and make a decision. Thank you to all the POC who helped make this training possible!

I hope everyone has been having a great spring break and has been taking this time to rest and recover. The semester is not over and when we come back we need to keep pushing. Now is not the time to become complacent but rather help motivate each other to finish the semester off strong. We have a lot of opportunities coming up, so make sure to be on the lookout.

GOOD AFTERNOON DET 075,

Last LLAB we got to go to Camp Elliott. This was a great opportunity for our detachment to test our skills outside of campus. We got to test our Battlefield Airmen skills with large scale scenarios. Both IMT and FTP were combined which allowed cadets to work with different people. This tests both followership and leadership skills as you have to adapt to working with new people. The environment at Camp Elliott is very similar to Field Training so it offers great training experience. Being able to train at Camp Elliott is a privilege for our detachment and we need to take advantage of any training we get to do there.

The detachment has many events coming up from Dining out to Quint Det to Paintball. These offer a range of different opportunities from testing what you learn at LLAB, building morale, and getting to meet new people. Make sure to pay attention to the weekly announcements and sign up for these events as soon as possible!

GOOD EVENING DET 075,

We kicked off LLAB 08 with announcements from Wing Staff. Remember to be grateful and look at the positive things in life to help motivate yourself. Next we moved onto a GMC and POC forum. This was done to help find and correct problems within our detachment. While everyone is working hard in our detachment we are always looking for ways to improve. We would also like to give a special shoutout to both C/Chang and C/Rao. C/Chang earned a spot for USAFA Freefall and C/Rao earned a spot for USAFA Soar. These are both highly competitive, with only a select few in the nation being selected.

During LLAB both IMT and FTP joined together to complete large scale scenarios. This allowed GMC cadets to work alongside new cadets and test their battlefield airmen skills. It is very important to learn how to adapt to new people and environments since during Field Training you will be working with all new cadets.

Lastly we ended LLAB with PT led by Med Group. We did a quick workout then got to work with our flights to earn warrior points. We got to play dodgeball while also getting our miles in. Make sure to keep working out and get your miles in!

Good Afternoon Det 075,

During LLAB 07 we got to recognize some of the outstanding cadets in our detachment for the month of February. The IMT cadet of the month was C/Navarro and the FTP cadet of the month was C/Yohn. Both of these cadets are constantly being evaluated but they continuously perform to the best of their ability and are great role models to both of the classes. The Trainer of the month was C/Chang. C/Chang and the TO team work tirelessly outside of LLAB making training plans for FTP to make sure they learn the necessary skills to excel at Field Training. The MSG GMC of the month was C/Bert and the MSG POC of the month was C/Miranda. MSG is constantly doing work throughout the week to better the detachment and these two cadets take initiative and lead the way. All of these cadets not only put in the work during LLAB but work just as hard behind the scenes to make sure everything goes right. Even if your name was not on the board, your work is recognized. Many cadets work hard to make sure the detachment runs smoothly. Shoutout to all the hardworking cadets, keep up the great work!

This week our detachment had the privilege of having Brigadier General Cantwell visit. When he left he gave C/Col Cardenas his own coin to award to a handful of cadets. C/Col Cardenas chose to award the cadets who worked to show Brigadier General Cantwell all aspects of cadet life and showcased what our detachment has to offer. Congratulations to all awardees.

Next, we would like to give a special shoutout to C/Daluz for earning Gold Bar Recruiter. This is a highly competitive position with only 24 people selected across the nation.

Four cadets from our detachment were also selected for Project Go. C/Cardenas is going to Taiwan. C/Onikubo and C/Chang are traveling to Lithuania and Latvia, respectively, for Russian. C/Elliot will be studying in South Korea. Project Go is a great opportunity and everyone who wants to study language and culture abroad should apply.

Lastly, make sure to keep C/Arehart in your thoughts and prayers. If you have not already reached out, take some time out of your day to help a fellow cadet.

GOOD EVENING DET 075,

Today we started LLAB 07 with announcements. I would like to remind everyone to sign up for paintball and nominate people for Mustache March. Both are great events and if you are able to participate, put yourself out there. Next we awarded cadets for their hard work throughout February. A lot goes on behind the scenes in the detachment and it is very important to recognize the hard work put in by our amazing cadets.

IMT cadets continued to work on GLPs which help develop their leadership in small group exercises. FTP learned about skills necessary for completing scenarios. They got to put this to the test at the end of training.

Lastly, we ended LLAB with PT. We first had to eat our broccoli and then moved on to flight competitions. We not only got to get a workout in but we got to work on our marching skills in a fast paced environment. Remember to continue working hard and take advantage of every opportunity offered by the detachment!

2d Lt Lopez is a pilot select who will be participating in the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Training Program (ENJJPT). In this episode, we discuss how he stays motivated during the wait, his involvement with RPIP, balancing your personal life with training & school and life lessons he learned as a cadet.

Aztec Aviation Organization (AAO) is the detachment's rated org. Our mission is to prepare our cadets for their prospective rated careers. We strive to build an avid aviation community that focuses on valuable instruction and enjoyable opportunities.

AAO provides many aviation opportunities for cadets. During the Fall semester we offer a free ground school, teaching our cadets the basic principles of aviation. Building off of that, in the spring semester we offer a simulator school where we apply the lessons learned during ground school to our detachment simulators. Both of these training cycles prepare cadets for the ROTC Pilot Indoctrination Program. The RPIP program goes through IFT and UPT, directly preparing cadets for their careers in the USAF upon commissioning. The RPIP program has a 100% pass rate at IFT & UPT. To supplement our training cycle, we offer flight opportunities through our organization and the Civil Air Patrol. These opportunities provide real life application to all the lessons taught in our ground school and in our simulators. AAO also volunteers around the San Diego community. This past semester we had an event on the USS midway, and this semester we are volunteering at the San Diego Air and Space Museum.

If you are interested in pursuing a rated career field (Pilot, CSO, ABM, RPA), you are more than welcome to come out to one of our meetings. If you are interested in joining our org and furthering your career opportunities, reach out to C/Pearce and he will help you get started.
