New leadership. Same combat readiness. ⚓

On July 17, 2026, Cmdr. Carissa Moore officially relieved Cmdr. Jacob Beckelhymer as commanding officer of USS STOCKDALE (DDG 106).

During his tenure, Cmdr. Beckelhymer led Stockdale through a relentless operational tempo—including U.S. 3rd Fleet patrols for Operation Southern Guard and an 8-month surge deployment across 2nd, 4th, and 6th Fleets participating in Operations Southern Spear and Absolute Resolve. He successfully led the ship and crew from a demanding operational cycle into its scheduled maintenance phase, ensuring the ship's long-term readiness.

🗣️ "Stockdale isn't a ship—it's these men and women right here. You could put this crew on a derelict fishing boat and we'd go into harm's way producing the exact same results." — Cmdr. Beckelhymer

Now, Cmdr. Moore steps up to lead after serving as the ship's executive officer since 2024, bringing her extensive operational experience to the deckplates as Stockdale enters its maintenance and readiness phase.

Join us in wishing Cmdr. Beckelhymer fair winds and following seas, and congratulating Cmdr. Moore on taking the helm! 🇺🇸

First in. Path cleared. Mission complete. ⚡️🌊

High-speed littoral warfare meets hard-charging explosive ordnance disposal.

USS CINCINNATI (LCS 20) teamed up with the elite operators of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group 1 (EODGRU 1) in the 3rd Fleet area of operations to sharpen expeditionary mine countermeasure tactics.

When the mission is clearing open waters, precision isn't optional—it’s how we guarantee sea control and keep the Fleet moving.

We don’t just train to fight; we train to win.

You don't master the seas by taking the easy path.

Training the next generation of surface combatants is about more than just passing tests. Surface Warfare Officers grind through the pressure, put in the hours and practice until precision becomes second nature.

A New Chapter of Leadership at DESRON 9 ⚓

Destroyer Squadron Nine - CDS9 held its official Change of Command ceremony, July 31, 2026. Capt. Kathleen Ball officially relieved Capt. Leo Leos as commodore.

Capt. Ball has assumed command of a warfighting DESRON, where she takes combat ready surface forces and transitions them into combat power. 💪

Under Capt. Leos’ command, DESRON 9 deployed twice with the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group. In U.S. Naval Forces Central Command / U.S. 5th Fleet, they sustained readiness during active combat operations by scheduling austere maintenance availabilities in the Gulf of Oman. They also planned and executed extensive combat operations in the Red Sea, and Gulf of Oman. DESRON 9 planned and led a Surface Action Group through the Strait of Hormuz, establishing the conditions for the Nimitz Strike Group to enter the Arabian Gulf. Inside the Arabian Gulf, the team established rotary-wing es**rt procedures for low, slow aircraft, coordinating operations across the Strike Group.

In U.S. 7th Fleet, DESRON 9 served as Maritime Interdiction Operations Commander for a high-visibility special operations boarding, and in Fourth Fleet, they executed operations with allies and partners during the Southern Seas Deployment.

From these successes, DESRON 9 stands as a battle-tested command capable of operations across diverse missions and theaters.

Join us in wishing Capt. Leos fair winds and following seas, and congratulating Capt. Ball a seasoned ASW/ASUW WTI, as she takes command! 🫡
