The Friends of the La Jolla Library will be selling books at the bookstore following the event.

Panelists include: Caitlin Rother, Matt Coyle, and Marc Carlos.

Happening this Friday, June 5th @ 10:30am! You won't want to miss it!

Join City Ballet of San Diego for "A Book and a Ballerina!" Enjoy listening to a read-aloud, hearing from a professional ballerina, and learning some basic dance steps. This hour-long program is an introduction to the world of classical ballet for kids in grades Pre-K through 5th.

Meet Hailey, a teen volunteer who runs the Innovation Station at the La Jolla/Riford Library!

Join us at the Innovation Station, a workshop where children learn about science and have fun making STEM projects! Held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month at 11:30am in the library's IDEA Lab.

This Saturday, May 23 at 11:30am children will learn about engineering by building motorized toy cars!

Open to all school-aged children. No reservation needed.

We are pleased to present a special AAPI Heritage Month screening of "To Climb a Gold Mountain," followed by a conversation with filmmaker Dr. Alex M. Azmi, Emmy Award winner. The event will include the film screening and a post-screening Q&A/discussion.

The documentary, "To Climb a Gold Mountain," tells the stories of four women of Asian descent who lived in America from the 1850s to the present day. Coming from different backgrounds and living dramatically different lives, these women reflect both the struggles and triumphs of the immigrant experience in America. Some, such as Anna May Wong, achieved success and public recognition, while others, like Sing Ye—who lived in the 1800s and fought for freedom—have been largely forgotten. Together, their stories trace the progression, evolution, and legacy of Asian immigrants as they became part of the fabric of American life.

Who's ready for another Sidewalk Book Sale???

Friends of the La Jolla Library will hold a Sidewalk Book Sale on Saturday, January 17th from 10am-1pm on the front steps of the library at 7555 Draper Avenue.

All used books at the sidewalk sale are $1 or less and all proceeds benefit the library.

For greater selection of used books please visit the Friends’ book store inside the library during the regular opening hours.
