Deputy Chief of Staff to the Secretary of War Patrick Weaver and Senior Advisor to the Commandant of the Coast Guard Steven Munoz visited Coast Guard Sector San Diego, May 13, 2026, to observe Coast Guard operations and receive mission briefs focused on maritime border security and operational readiness along the Southwest border.

The visit included a Joint Harbor Operations Center tour, non-compliant vessel boarding and use-of-force demonstrations aboard a Coast Guard Station San Diego small boat, and an MH-60 Jayhawk aerial tour of the Southern California maritime border region.

Sector San Diego crews conduct daily operations to detect, deter and interdict unlawful maritime activity while protecting the nationโ€™s maritime borders.
