Commander, Navy Region Southwest held a Change of Command Ceremony on Thursday Aug. 20, 2026, where Rear Adm. Rich Jarrett relinquished Command to Rear Adm. David Faehnle aboard Naval Base Coronado.
RDML Jarrett, a Charleston, W. Va. native, leaves CNRSW after a 14-month tour that was highlighted by improvements to Sailor housing options in the southwest region, and the first ever NASCAR event held aboard a U.S. military installation.
RADM David J. Faehnle, of Columbus, Ohio, was previously the Commandant of Naval District Washington, before taking command of CNRSW from RDML Jarrett on Aug. 20th.
The ceremony took place at Pier O on Naval Base Coronado, overlooking the San Diego bay and skyline. RDML Jarrett was honored by hosting Mr. Tim Bridges, Executive Director of Navy Installations Command, as the guest speaker for the ceremony.
CNRSW is the Navy's installation command of the southwestern region of the United States, providing coordination of base operating support functions for Sailors throughout 6 six states. This includes providing expertise in areas such as housing, environmental, security, family services, port services, air services, bachelor quarters, supply, medical and logistical concerns for the hundreds of thousands of active-duty, reserve and retired military members in California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.
