68 years of navigating and operating in the Arctic❄️

❓Did you know that on August 3, 1958, USS Nautilus (SSN 571), the world's first nuclear-powered submarine, became the first vessel to complete a submerged navigation beneath the North Pole❓

This year, USS Santa Fe (SSN 763) transited and surfaced in the Arctic Region during Operation Ice Camp Boarfish 2026, a three-week operation designed to research, test, and evaluate operational capabilites in the Arctic, reflecting the Navy's strategic priorities in the area. 💪

A new chapter begins in San Diego! 🇺🇸⚓️

USS Springfield (SSN 761) arrived to its new homeport at Naval Base Point Loma, July 21, 2026.

“We are excited to welcome Springfield to San Diego and the warfighters of Submarine Squadron 11,” said Capt. Phillip Sylvia Jr., commander, Submarine Squadron 11. “The crew brings extensive knowledge and experience from their forward-deployed presence, and we look forward to continuing to increase our readiness and capabilities with another apex predator on our waterfront.” 💪
