Navy Reserve Region Readiness and Mobilization Command, San Diego (REDCOM SD) hosted a Commander’s conference for the Commanding Officers and staff members from 9-11 February, 2026. Commanding Officers from 19 Navy Reserve Centers (NRCs) throughout the southwest region of the United States all visited San Diego in order to meet face-to-face with REDCOM Staff leadership.

RADM Luke Frost, Commander, Navy Reserve Forces, visited to give remarks and outline the strategic vision for the Navy Reserve going into 2027.

During the conference, NRC Guam was announced as the NRC of the Year, Small Category, FY 2025.

NRC Pearl Harbor was announced as the NRC of the Year, Medium Category, FY 2025.

NRC Denver was announced as the NRC of the Year, Large Category, FY 2025.

On January 21, 2026, at the Navy Reserve Region Readiness and Mobilization Command, San Diego (REDCOM SD), Capt. Domitilo Pastorin, welcomed the finalists for the Southwest Region’s Sailor of the Year (SOY) Award.

Prior to the SOY board, each finalist enjoyed breakfast with Capt. Pastorin.

After the board, the finalists enjoyed a tour of the historic USS Midway museum. Later in the evening, the finalists enjoyed a dinner with Capt. Pastorin, as well as the Command Master Chiefs who sat the SOY board.

At the end of the event, Personnel Specialist 1st Class Nikita Sheline was selected as the TAR Sailor of the year, and Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Lorenzorae Balane was selected as the SELRES Sailor of the year.

On December 12, 2025, Yeoman 2nd Class Anna Aparicio, assigned to Navy Reserve Region Readiness and Mobilization Command, San Diego (REDCOM SD), raised her right hand and swore the oath of reenlistment aboard the museum ship USS Midway.

Congratulations and thank you for your continued dedication and service to our country!
