The Sultan and Prince Jean Pierre IV of Principauté d'Aigues-Mortes back on the micronational road — this time in Brno, Czechia for last week’s Micro Euro Summit.

There’s something wonderfully strange about a room full of people who looked at the traditional idea of a country and thought, yeah… we can probably do this differently.

Huge thanks to Arch Duke Arthur of Duckionary and President Zar Antov of Obscurium for putting on one hell of a royal gathering — good people, good laughs, questionable diplomacy, and exactly the kind of beautiful weirdness we travel for.

Next stop: MicroCon 27 in 2027 — San Diego and Aigues-Mortes.

MicroCon 27: North America in the news...

"Move over ComiCon. MicroCon 2027 is headed for San Diego.
MicroCon is the annual gathering of the global micronational community — heads of state, cabinet ministers, directors of bean and cheese burrito affairs, all of it. It is, according to the website, 'the global gathering of small nations with big personalities, hosted in a city where tacos, palm trees, and international intrigue collide: San Diego, California. This isn’t just another conference. This is the summit where presidents in polyester sashes and kings with handmade passports come together to trade ideas, laugh at bureaucracy, and toast to the art of taking nation-building into their own hands.'

Williams attended three previous conventions and wanted the challenge to produce the best MicroCon yet.

His vision for the San Diego-based is characteristically maximalist.
The main conference day will take place at the Ultimate Skybox, high above downtown with views of Petco Park. The evening moves to a yacht with City Cruises for dinner, dancing, awards, and a sail beneath the Coronado Bridge. Excursions include a trip to Puerto Nuevo, Mexico, for lobster on the beach, with a stop at Friendship Park — where the border wall meets the Pacific Ocean.

'These are guys that own micro nations and are obviously fans of borders and lines and geographical anomalies. There’s nothing much cooler than actually seeing a border wall that goes right into the sea.'

Behind ancient stone walls in the medieval city of Aigues-Mortes, France, history has been quietly unfolding for centuries. In 2027, it’ll play host to something just as unusual: MicroCon 27: EU.

Here’s your first sneak peek.

The room is intimate. The conversations won’t be. This is where micronations, dreamers, diplomats, and wonderfully unreasonable people from around the world will gather to trade ideas, raise glasses, and prove—once again—that imagination still has a place in this world.

A handful of tickets remain. And if San Diego taught us anything, it’s this: they won’t last.
