The school year is underway, and Bonita Unified’s student chefs are bringing some impressive summer accolades with them into the kitchen! Over the summer, our ProStart students participated in the California Restaurant Foundation’s annual Culinary Clash, where student sous chefs were paired with restaurant leaders for a two-month mentorship experience before bringing their creations to life at a high-energy tasting event.

Bonita High School senior Abby Brandler earned both the Golden Plate and Fan Favorite awards, while San Dimas High School students Alexa Aguilera and Julian Rozier took home the Sysco Star Student and SCE Equipment Champ awards, respectively. Congratulations to our talented ProStart students; we cannot wait to see what you cook up this year!

Chaparral-Vista High School students will see a familiar face in a new role this school year! During the Aug. 5 Board of Education meeting, BUSD appointed Kendra Lewis to serve as Chaparral-Vista's principal for the 2026-27 school year. Lewis previously served as the school's Dean of Students, earning recognition as the Association of California School Administrators' (ACSA) 2026 Promising Administrator of the Year for Region 15.
