VFW San Fernando

VFW San Fernando There was no medical care or veterans' pension for them, and they were left to care for themselves.

Our mission is to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts and to serve our veterans, the military and our communities and advocate on behalf of all veterans. The VFW traces its roots back to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War (1898) and the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902) founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service: Many

arrived home wounded or sick. In their misery, some of these veterans banded together and formed organizations with what would become known as the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. After chapters were formed in Ohio, Colorado, and Pennsylvania, the movement quickly gained momentum. Building upon VFW's mission, VFW Post 3834 San Fernando (aka Robert G Morton Post 3834 Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, www.vfw3834.org) is dedicated to advocacy for veterans benefits, and assisting veterans with any claims they wish to file for service-connected issues.

Without the dedication and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans, America wouldn't be the remarkable country it is today. It is essential for our youth to understand and appreciate our rich history, traditions, and the significant impact veterans have had in shaping and building America.

Each year, the Veterans of Foreign Wars honors exceptional elementary, middle, and high school teachers through the Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher program. This initiative recognizes educators who have made a profound impact on their students by instilling a sense of citizenship and appreciation for veterans.

How to Nominate:
We invite you to review the updated rules and eligibility criteria and download the 2025 entry form to nominate a deserving teacher you know. All nomination entries must be submitted to a local participating VFW Post by the October 31 deadline.

We would be thrilled to recognize an outstanding teacher and have them represent VFW Post 3834 (San Fernando).

"🚨 Protecting Our Veterans: Time to Support SB 694! 🚨

24 hours Left SB 694 Need to get out of Rules Committee!

Veterans, neighbors, coworkers, friends, brothers, sisters, grandparents, and everyone in between—our veteran community is in need of our support.

Right now, claim sharks are pressuring Senators to stall this bill. If they succeed, California veterans will be left vulnerable to predatory businesses that charge unlawful fees for help that should be free.

WE NEED IMMEDIATE ACTION.

Please make your voice heard in support of the bill by using the following link on Voter Voice - https://calcommanders.org/take-action/

Here is our local CA State Senator Caroline Menjivar's office # (916) 651-4020 if you prefer a phone call.

Why? It safeguards benefits, stops scams, and honors service with real accountability.

What is SB 694?
California's Senate Bill (SB) 694 aims to protect service members and veterans from predatory practices by expanding consumer protection laws related to deceptive acts and unreasonable fees for veteran benefit services. The bill prohibits charging fees exceeding those allowed by VA-accredited representatives, expands the definition of "public social services" to include more veteran benefits, and makes it a misdemeanor to solicit fees for preparing benefit claims under certain conditions. It also introduces new protections against requiring service members to share login credentials for government systems.
