Government moves slow…but our kids can’t wait.

The Macdonald Mini-Fields Project is moving forward and we’ve got support from Macdonald Ave businesses, local organizations, and the Iron Triangle Neighborhood Council.

Vacant land shouldn’t sit empty while our community needs space to play.

Richmond deserves better, let’s turn vacant into vibrant.

My summer school for the next three weeks!

The Exploratorium Teacher Institute is basically a science teacher nerd fest. Educators from across the country come together to learn new skills, explore hands-on science, and discover tools and strategies to bring back to their classrooms.

I’m excited to find new ways to make science engaging for my students.

Plus an easy ferry ride followed by a bike ride along the Embarcadero is just the cherry on top. 🚲 ⛴️

Happy World Cup Opening Day! ⚽🌎

Watching the Mexico versus South Africa tournament opener at the historic Estadio Azteca….while cleaning my classroom at Richmond High School to close out the school year tomorrow.

I’m remembering my visit to Estadio Azteca in November 2008, where I watched a sold out El Clásico Mexicano. This iconic 87,000-seat stadium has hosted three World Cup opening matches and is home to Mexico’s National Team and Club América. It’s undergone many renovations since my visit and I look forward to seeing Las Azulcremas 🦅 play here some day.

As of today, MLK Park field remains Richmond’s only all-weather soccer field and track with lights. Despite recent repairs, years of heavy use, vandalism, and unpermitted activities are taking a toll on this critical community asset.

Richmond’s Parks Master Plan recommends one soccer field for every 5,000 residents, yet thousands of local players continue to rely on a single lighted field.

Our athletes, families, and community deserve better. Investing in additional quality sports facilities isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity for a growing city and the next generation of Richmond youth.

Richmond officials are working on a new plan to fix the the all-weather sports field at Martin Luther King Jr. Park after complaints about safety issues. During a recent meeting […]

From the last Star Wars film in 2019 to today, we Torreses are still nerding out on Star Wars. We watched The Rise of Skywalker in Lisbon 6.5 years ago and today we watched The Mandalorian & Grogu in Richmond. Absolutely worth it on the big screen, so much so that an IMAX 3D rewatch might already be in the works. 🍿🤓

Proud to share that my husband has officially graduated with his PhD in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Francisco.

I met him after he returned home from his second combat deployment in Iraq, and through the GI Bill he earned his bachelor’s degree and now his PhD. Watching his journey over the last 14 years has been incredible.

One fun fact about our marriage: every single time we committed to graduate school, we also found out we were expecting a child. Somehow we managed to grow our education, our family, and our dreams all at the same time.

Through every late night, exam, thesis, career change, and parenting challenge, we have continued to support each other through every stage of growth.

So proud of you, Dr. Torres ❤️
