The Office of Sexual Harassment and Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP)

The SHARP office is the gender-based violence prevention division of the SF Human Rights Commission. We work to ensure that survivors of sexual violence are believed, responded to, and treated with dignity when navigating city government to voice their experience of sexual violence. We do this work by centering the experiences of those most impacted by sexual violence and prioritizing community-led solutions towards healing and justice.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The SHARP Office is seeking to hire a Program Assistant to interact directly with individual survivors of gender-based violence, their advocates and community organizations. The Program Assistant will be responsible for managing intake scheduling and record keeping and will work with SHARP staff to help navigate survivors through government and community processes. This position, along with other SHARP staff, will have an important opportunity to lead policy initiatives and drive conversations on accountability and responsiveness, with the potential to have national influence on institutional and societal responses to sexual assault and harassment, and the resulting trauma. This position will be supervised by the Director of SHARP and will receive guidance from community-based organizations working to end gender-based violence.

Yearly Salary Range: $71,448 - $86,892

SHARP is concerned with the verdict of the The Johnny Depp - Amber Heard trial. In addition to the deep misunderstanding of the cycles of violence within abusive relationships, this verdict dangerously sets a legal precedent to silence survivors from speaking out. The verdict sends a message to survivors of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) that if they share their experience they not only risk not being believed but will be shut out of their communities and blamed for the violence they experience.

At SHARP we believe all survivors. The livestreaming of this trial has forced many of us to relive the violence we have survived and we encourage all survivors to take care of themselves.
