This Tuesday, September 1, app-based delivery workers in Brazil carried out an impressive National Breque, with massive mobilizations around the sector’s demands.

Workers are demanding a Provisional Measure (MP) establishing a minimum rate of 10 reais per delivered order, protection against persecution and threats targeting movement leaders, and rights for gig workers.

From the International Gig Workers Congress, we send our full support and international solidarity to their struggle. We will continue organizing in support of the demands of Brazil’s delivery workers and for full labor rights for gig workers around the world.

From the International Gig Workers Congress, we want to congratulate our brothers and sisters at App Drivers Union ! In Massachusetts, 70,000 Uber and Lyft drivers have just won the first state-recognized union for app workers in the entire United States — with the right to bargain collectively.
This is the road we must follow: organize from the grassroots, building the unions and associations that let us stand up to these companies. We'll go parking lot by parking lot, corner by corner, until we win our rights and our recognition as workers.
