• EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES with organizing, action, media assistance, technical and strategic expertise, and skills building programs for both youth and adults so they gain the knowledge to win victories
• TAKING nonviolent direct ACTION against polluters

In this month’s episode of Power Up! Greenaction joins the WMCC and other allies at a public awareness protest against the La Sal Mines, owned and operated by Energy Fues Resources. The uranium from the mine is transported to the White Mesa Mill, just outside of the Ute Mountain Ute’s White Mesa reservation. The mill is the last operating uranium mill in the U.S. and holds radioactive waste from all over the world. The radioactive waste threatens the community’s water supply and future generations.

BOTCHED "CLEANUP" CONTINUES!

Radioactive materials were found in a cabinet in one of the buildings on the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard Superfund Site. The Navy continues to fail in its responsibility to clean up the radioactive and toxic contamination that remains at the Shipyard from decades ago. The Shipyard poses a very serious threat to public health and the environment, especially for the residents who've been exposed to the radioactive and toxic waste for many, many decades now!!!

Belated May Day post honoring union organizing at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, back when it was active.

The shipyard offered dangerous jobs, oftentimes, exposing workers to toxic chemicals. The Hunter Point Shipyard is still polluted with radioactive and toxic waste that continues to put workers and community members health at risk.

Photos taken from a Shipyard open studios gallery last July.
