Public Discussion
AI: Promise or Peril?

Artificial intelligence has the potential for solving long-standing problems in science, technology, and medicine. It could free workers from dangerous and tedious jobs. But in the current AI race, profit is the motivating force, with big business and government investing trillions in hopes of massive returns. The resulting speculative bubble, looming worker layoffs, and the physical infrastructure needed to power vast data centers threaten economic and environmental devastation. Share your thoughts on what’s needed to apply this emerging technology humanely and sustainably.

Speaker:
Lois Danks
Port Angeles, WA socialist feminist defender of immigrant rights and anti-fascist organizer, staff writer for Freedom Socialist newspaper.

Sunday, July 26, 12 noon

Blatant CENSORSHIP at SF PRIDE 🤐

🚨WE NEED YOUR HELP🚨

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Happy Pride Month!

We joined the Trans and Pride marches this weekend, but when we watched ABC's recording of the Pride march, we were shocked. When it came time to view the FSP and RW contingent, we were censored! Here’s the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4eXUbp0o54 .

First, there's a jump-cut at 16:38, clearly to skip over the commentator saying our name. Then at 16:47, the exact moment when we appear in a closer camera shot, holding our signs and chanting against Mayor Lurie's harmful budget cuts, the screen is blacked out. These are obviously deliberate edits to erase us and censor our message.

It’s outrageous that we were consciously removed from the video of this year’s Pride March, which was hypocritically themed “Resistance in Action”! Could it be that our chants in front of the tv cameras offended Pride officials and the Mayor? We purposely chanted, “Mayor Lurie you can’t hide, Cutting services is NOT Pride”! SF’s top Democrat is threatening to cut critical services and lay off hundreds of City workers.

We marched in the Resistance Contingent with other left groups and could be seen in the earlier shots. Visible signs and banners promoting socialism were also shown, so we believe it was our criticism of Lurie that resulted in our censure.

We have seen corporate media and the official Pride leadership turn their backs on poor and working class LGBTQI+ folks for too long. We’re seeing increased attacks on trans folks and q***r youth. With increased violence, job and health discrimination, loss of basic human rights, Pride needs to get back to the fighting days of Stonewall.

⚠️ CALL TO ACTION!! ⚠️

Please email SF Pride at [email protected] and call ABC 7 at (415) 954-7777.

• Let them know you are aware of the censorship of the Freedom Socialist and Radical Women contingent at the Pride March which was done by editing them out of the video of the March.

• Ask them why this happened.

• Demand a public apology and restoring the original footage of FSP and RW activists back into the video.

Thank you all for your solidarity and support! ✊

Blatant CENSORSHIP at SF PRIDE 🤐

🚨We need your help!🚨

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Happy Pride Month! The Freedom Socialist Party and Radical Women joined the Trans and Pride marches this weekend and we hope you got re-energized for the continuing fights!

On that note, we were watching the video recording of the Pride March and were shocked that when it came time to view the FSP and RW contingent, a blank screen suddenly appeared and we are not to be seen! Here’s the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4eXUbp0o54 .

Could it be that our chants in front of the tv cameras offended Pride officials and the Mayor? We purposely chanted, “Mayor Lurie you can’t hide, Cutting services is NOT Pride”! San Francisco’s top Democrat is threatening to cut critical services at Public Health and Human Services, as well as laying off hundreds of City workers.

We marched in the Resistance Contingent with other left groups and could be seen in the earlier shots. Visible signs and banners promoting socialism were also shown, so we surmise that it was our criticism of Mayor Lurie that resulted in our censure.

In FSP and RW we have seen corporate media and the official Pride leadership turn their backs on poor and working class LGBTQI+ folks for too long. In 2026, we’re seeing increased attacks on trans folks and q***r youth. With increased violence, job and health discrimination, loss of basic human rights, Pride needs to get back to the fighting days of Stonewall.

We have written to the San Francisco Pride Board and ABC TV which was the “exclusive broadcaster” of the March asking for an explanation and a public apology, and demanding that they restore the segment of us that they removed.

Please help put pressure on these two entities by emailing them.

Reading and Discussion Group — "The Revolutionary Party: Its Role in the Struggle for Socialism" by James P. Cannon

The 99% is rising up against war, repression, and crackdowns on civil liberties. Mass protest is a crucial component, but conscious collective action by workers is key. How can we ensure that our struggles for systemic change are inclusive of those who need change the most? What is the way to foster accountable leadership, free of opportunism and ruling class influence?

Participate in this three-session discussion exploring the role of a revolutionary party in organizing an inclusive movement for radical change.

Fighting Modern McCarthyism: Lessons from Yesterday

McCarthyism never died – it evolved. Today a familiar playbook comes roaring back. A new wave of suppression by the Trump regime adds terrorist-baiting and demands loyalty to every tenet of white supremacy, patriarchy, xenophobia, and transphobia. In this discussion group, we will study the history of resistance to McCarthyism to arm ourselves with strategies for today. Together we will answer: How do we go on the offense against government attacks to our rights and our lives?
