Every race of people (speaking in the aggregate) is capable of racism. It's just that white humans had the overwhelmingly-large opportunity to do it over these past few centuries.

Every ethnic-group of humans is capable of genocide, mass-murder and deprivation. Turkey did this against the Armenians. The N***s did this most infamously against the Jews during the 1930s and 40s. But today we see that the Jews (in the aggregate) are just as capable, as illustrated by their genocidal mass-murder of the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip. We can recognize the same patterns of 'other-ism' in what they say: "We must defend against these terrorists", "They're animals" (the most ironic).. and there's even talk now of taking their shoreline to enable individuals to become rich developing it as beachfront properties.

For all the collective failings of Israel that I perceived in the past, it has been these past few months (since 10/7) that I have become irrepairably disillusioned with Israel. Zionism IS bigotry. And this country (the US) really should stop completely and immediately all aid to Israel.

Geopolitics: Your thoughts?

A proposed nuclear-arms treaty wherein no nation is permitted greater than 50 nuclear bombs/warheads, and they are stored where they can be monitored. The signatories to the treaty would pledge no first-use of the nuclear weapons under any circumstances other than an actual nuclear attack upon them. In exchange for this (drastic) reduction, the smaller nuclear-armed nations agree to give up all nuclear arms and the capability to produce them.

Myriad details to resolve, obviously.

When a person utters the words "the sanctity of human life", what usually follows is speciest, ignorant bigotry.

Home Sapiens is just one species, out of millions. The criteria ought to be "sentient life", and there are roughly 5,400 distinct mammalian species (of roughly 20% are now known to be extinct or threatened with extinction due to the impact of humans).

It is the pinnacle of arrogance and selfishness, to reserve the term "sanctity" only for our own dam selves, as though everyone else doesn't matter.

It is specism, rather than the other forms of bigotry incl racism and genderism, that gives rise to the most suffering and death on the Earth today.

With the ads complaining about "Vegan Cheese" and the like, it's helpful to keep these raw truths in mind:

When they point to "long list of ingredients with names you can't even pronounce.." -- they are playing upon the ignorance of most people.

So what? Everything that we can possibly see, touch, smell, or ingest -- is chemicals of one kind or another. And those molecules have names. You can only recognize the name of a few, just like the rest of us. Pick a flower. What do you have in your hand? Molecules! Names hard to pronounce? Well, there're reasons for that, and the best way to learn them is to open a book of first-semester Chemistry (or your old high-school Chemistry book) and enjoy some refreshing reading. Chemistry and Biology go hand-in-hand and can be a rich joy to learn. Especially at a more advanced age when our minds are more clear.

Not every step of "processing" is for a nefarious purpose. Often they are for purification, combining, making things into a state that is more suited for the purpose. Be wary of that meaningless phrase "100% Pure Natural" -- which is a pernicious favorite of unscrupulous marketers. If a crazed lunatic chases after your kids because he wants to eat their feet, he might yell as he runs "because it's 100% pure natural"

And on that: you know what IS sensible and wise, in choosing what we are about to eat?

Kindness. Toward all sentient beings.

There is rarely an excuse for soldiers (or police) to be gunning down an unarmed person.

It has surely appeared that the IDF was being indiscriminate and reckless with the lives of the Gaza Palestinians. 18,000 dead and climbing (note: figures are rough and may be inflated)? They are proceeding as though the Palistinian lives have no value.

The predictable result: today the IDF shot and killed three unarmed people (in addition to many others) who - as it turned out - were three of the hostages.

Killed by the IDF.

The NYTimes article included their excuse. I'm not buying it -- this was reckless disregard for sentient life.

It IS only 3, as weighed against the 1,200 that the Hamas terrorists murdered, and more importantly -- against the 18,000 that the IDF has thus far killed. If this gives the IDF pause to reconsider their methods - then this would be a fortunate event (a dark thing to say, surely).

I believe Netanyahoo merits a pile of public opprobrium for this loss.
