FLY THE FLAG WITH PRIDE! 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭

The Philippine flag is a symbol of our nation’s identity, freedom, and sovereignty. As we observe Flag Days, let us be reminded that the proper use and display of the flag is not only a matter of protocol, but also of patriotism and respect. Under the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 8491), acts that dishonor, misuse, deface, or improperly use the Philippine flag are prohibited by law. These provisions help preserve the dignity and honor of one of the country’s most important national symbols. Let us continue to uphold respect for the Philippine flag and the values it represents.

The Flag Days kick off the celebration of the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, with the theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan” (“Freedom, Future, History”).

FLY THE FLAG WITH PRIDE! 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭

Respecting the Philippine flag means honoring the nation, its history, and the sacrifices of the Filipino people. As provided under the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 8491), the Philippine flag must always be treated with dignity and displayed in the position of honor. During flag ceremonies, individuals are encouraged to stand at attention with their right hand over their chest while the National Anthem is played or sung. Simple acts of respect for the flag reflect our shared patriotism and pride as Filipinos.

Did you know that the official colors of the Philippine flag are defined by law? Under Section 28 of the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 8491), the official shades of blue, red, white, and golden yellow are identified through technical specifications such as Cable Numbers, Hex Codes, RGB, and CMYK values to ensure consistency and accuracy in reproducing the Philippine flag.

These standards help preserve the integrity and dignity of one of the nation’s most important symbols wherever it is displayed — from schools and government offices to diplomatic missions around the world.

The Flag Days kick off the celebration of the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, with the theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan” (“Freedom, Future, History”).
