17th St. Little Free Library #56037 A place for our community to come together. We want to share our passion for reading by keeping the library stocked with great books from many genres!

I find myself inspired by things that are offered freely with no expectation in return. I'm also a huge fan of the honor system. The first Little Free Library I saw was in Seattle years ago. While I didn't know what it was, I knew I loved it and then noticed them popping up in other places. Having spent my entire working life alternating between textbook publishing and graduate school, books play

My English teacher Ms. Wood (El Cerrito High Class of '88!) was my reading hero. She asked me to be her T.A. and she lent me books from her amazing library. She exposed me to books I may not have chosen for myself, and she opened my world considerably as a result. I thought of her often as we were getting this little library going! -Lisa
