Im sorry if this doesnt belong here, delete if it doesn't. I rent a bottom floor apartment from a sh*tty company in alberta, canada. This is the second time this year that this has happened. The maintenance explained it as some sort of main clog(??) Not something to worry about or panic over. it backs up in the laundry room, flooding the hallway and leaving it smelling like actual hot, humid, dookie. Our toilet wont work properly, and last year it backed up into our tub. I dont know if its gray water or actual sewage. Its the weekend and i submitted a maintenance request, but they might not think its serious enough and leave it til monday. Is there anything else i could do?

Will this work? Would I be able to run a pressure washer for my car off this?

So, I am renting a house in a small subdivision in Alaska which has its own ‘private’ water/sewer lines which connect to the main city line but are outside of city jurisdiction. I have a… let’s say rather ‘impulsive’ neighbor who borrowed a backhoe and decided to dig a giant hole in his backyard, and accidentally dug through our shared waterline in the process. My house is uphill from his, and further from the main water line, so as I understand it, my municipal/tap water runs through his property. Long story short, after several days of water being shut off intermittently (and flowing brown once flow restored) he eventually fixed the pipe, but now, almost a month later, my tap water still has a strange ‘woody’ taste to it, so I’m concerned that he may have somehow contaminated it. I’m a bit overwhelmed by the situation currently, and just wondering if anyone an recommend steps I can take to mitigate this issue? TLDR: Neighbor broke, then ‘fixed’ my waterline, now tap water may be contaminated. Looking for advice.

Imagine buying a flipped home and finding out the guy who did all the "upgrades" under the table piped your shower directly into your sewer main. Service call for a "strong sewer smell".

No trap, no sweep. Just a santee on its back and you can watch the rest of your bathroom drainage cruise by your shower drain.

I felt really bad for the new buyers, it's amazing the sewer smell was missed by home inspectors.

Oh well, time to tearup a brand new shower...

Just bought a 1975 custom house with a finished basement. At opposite ends of the house we have these pits. One clearly for a sump, which is fine. But the other is puzzling. No drains or anything. Just a pit. Beside it on the ground is a pump for the laundry room drain. Not sure if that’s related.

Anyways, this one is a pain because it’s in the middle of my laundry room which id like to tile. Ideally I’d fill this sucker in.

I have the original blueprints and the sump pit is clearly marked, but this one isn’t. Almost makes me wonder if it was a later addition for safe keeping’s, or perhaps a mistake during construction.

Thoughts?

My landlord says these cracks inside the toilet bowl are just cosmetic and they won't replace the toilet until it actually breaks. I'm afraid to use it as I'm plus size and disabled and definitely couldn't get off it fast if it did start to break.

Is this really not a problem or should I try to borrow some money to replace it myself?

I'm in Australia if anyone knows any cheap toilet sellers lol. Can you buy second hand toilets?

Just got home and saw my basement sink like this can someone tell me what this is and how do I fix it?
