Friends of the J. Paul Leonard Library The Friends of the J. Paul Leonard Library is a non-profit affiliate of San Francisco State University. The organization was founded in 1980.

The FOL has four primary goals:
- promote the love of books, book reading, and book collecting;
- foster close and supportive relations between the Library and both the university and the large community;
- enrich the Library and the services and experiences it offers its patrons;

nds to support the Library's acquisitions, services, programs, and improvements in facilities
