2025 UCSF Library Artist in Residence, Michelle Memran has been working closely with the HIV/AIDS Epidemic Collection, exploring how early advocacy materials mobilized communities, fought stigma, and reshaped public health messaging during the height of the epidemic.

Her project, “Past Advocacy/Future Change”, looks at how these strategies can inform today’s communication and advocacy around Alzheimer’s and related dementias.

Michelle will soon begin reactivating select archival materials in the UCSF Makers Lab. Stay tuned for updates as the work evolves.
