I was honored to engage with this year's Expert Soldier Badge (ESB) competitors and cadre at Fort McCoy, WI! I specifically recognizing ESB NCOIC CSM Robert Denny for leading the foundation of this Army Reserve competition for the past several years. I also gave recognition to SFC Holly Mach who has taken the operational reigns leading to an excellent event. These Soldiers stepped into the arena to better themselves, to test themselves, and to bring invaluable Army Warrior Tasks and Soldier skills back to their units. This year my team received 60 packets. This test is not for the faint of heart! After the Expert Physical Fitness Test administered during the pouring rain, day and night land navigation, and weapons tests the group of competitors has been reduced to 28. I cannot wait to see the proud faces of those who remain to the end and earn the prestdgious badge! I am looking forward to making this event more readily available at new locations in the United States and to consolidate the Expert Infantry Badge, Expert Soldier Badge, and Expert Field Medical Badge into the E3B in 2024! A loud shout out the many members of these Soldiers chains of command and the US Army Reserve Command staff who supported these Soldiers efforts.
