Charity Cultural Services Center's Chinatown mural tour and street cleaning event was a huge success! We had about 100 people join us over the weekend for a day of community, culture and service.
Participants explored local murals, learned more about the stories behind them, helped clean neighborhood streets and enjoyed local food and live entertainment. We’re grateful to Avenue Greenlight for supporting the event and to Refuse Refuse for helping with the street cleaning and spreading the word. It was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate Chinatown, support the neighborhood and connect with one another. Stay tuned for info on our next one in November!

📚 Registration is open for Charity Cultural Services Center's online PK–5 English tutoring classes!

Students receive small-group instruction with one tutor for every 2–4 students. Classes use reading, writing, games and songs to strengthen English reading, listening and speaking skills.

🗓 Mondays and Wednesdays
⏰ 6:30–7:30 PM
💻 Classes held on Zoom
💵 $100 for the entire 2026–2027 school year

Space is limited. Students with the greatest need for English tutoring will receive priority.

📣 High school students: Join Charity Cultural Services Center's Family in Transition (FIT) program this fall!

FIT brings students together to explore culture and identity through hands-on workshops, cultural activities and volunteer opportunities. While the program is designed with AAPI students in mind, everyone is welcome!

💰 The 14 most active students will receive a $150 award for participating in Fall 2026 activities!

To qualify, students must participate in at least:
⭐ 2 workshops
🤝 1 volunteer event
📚 1 final project

Charity Cultural Services Center had a successful “Starting Your Small Business in San Francisco” workshop this week, presented in partnership with COLSA (Chinese Outreach Law Student Association) and EMRAN LAW! 🎉

Participants learned about choosing the right business structure, registering a business in San Francisco, labor law basics, payroll taxes and workers’ compensation requirements. The English presentation with Chinese interpreting helped make this important information accessible to our community.

🌱 Calling San Francisco youth ages 15–24!

Have an idea for making your community greener, healthier or more resilient? The Youth Climate Action Innovation Challenge is offering $1,000–$5,000 microgrants to help young people turn climate action ideas into real projects.

Projects can include community cleanups, waste reduction, environmental education, art and storytelling, urban greening and more.

✅ Projects must be led by at least two youth ages 15–24
✅ Youth must live, work or attend school in San Francisco
✅ No fiscal sponsor yet? You can still apply
📅 Application deadline: September 30, 2026

This is a great opportunity for young people to create something meaningful for their neighborhood and make a difference in San Francisco.

Charity Cultural Services Center had a great time at the 11th Annual All My Usos Family Day BBQ on Saturday at Gilman Park! 🎉

It was a wonderful day bringing families and neighbors together with great food, entertainment, activities and community resources. Thank you to everyone who helped make this free community event such a great celebration of family and community! ❤️

During our last day of Charity Cultural Services Center's Summer camp we gave students with new backpacks filled with school supplies getting them ready for a new school year. We appreciate WCF Insurance and AT&T sponsoring these backpacks and supplies. We are also happy to have our first-year camp leader and tutoring club founder, Ella, come back for a visit the students on their last day, too! Many happy goodbyes 👋 off to the new school year 🙂
