Today, Walk SF & San Francisco Bay Area Families for Safe Streets celebrated the one-year anniversary of speed cameras on SF's streets with Supervisor Matt Dorsey, SFMTA - San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, Rudy Corpuz with United Playaz, San Francisco Bicycle Coalition & other safe streets advocates.

The data the SFMTA released today on the success of the speed camera program is incredible. Drivers are dramatically changing behavior, and we are ALL safer as a result.

Speeding is the #1 cause of traffic crashes in San Francisco year after year. So EVERY solution possible is needed to address this. And wow: speed cameras a powerful one!

It's going to take a lot more speed cameras (and other solutions, too) to adequately address the growing threat of dangerous speeding. But nothing is more important in terms of preventing tragedies on our streets.
