San Francisco chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby
We meet every second Saturday of the month from 10:00AM-12:00PM at Manny’s @ 3092 16th St, San Francisco, CA 94103. Citizens' Climate Lobby is a fast-growing, non partisan, non profit organization of more than 180 groups of citizen lobbyists in the US and Canada, with more groups starting around the world. Our website is http://citizensclimatelobby
.org/
Our purposes are to create the political will for a stable climate, and to empower individuals to have breakthroughs in exercising their personal and political power. We are lobbying the United States Congress to enact a steadily increasing tax on fossil fuels with all revenue returned to American households, a proposal which we call "carbon fee and dividend." A recent study shows that this legislation would good for the economy at the same time that it brings down global warming emissions. Local chapters like ours meet with their Member of Congress and staff, and build public support for our proposal by writing to newspapers and meeting with editorial boards, communicating through social media, and talking with individuals and community groups. We meet first Saturday mornings of the month in San Francisco for an international conference call with an expert guest speaker, followed by a business meeting to plan our local activities. To learn about the origins and methods of Citizens Climate Lobby, and ask questions, join one of our introductory phone calls which take place every Wednesday at 5:00pm Pacific/8:00pm Eastern.
