Earlier this summer, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris proposed a new rule to prevent from impacting people's credit scores. In fact, a recent Community Catalyst poll shows 75% of voters say they support this proposal. But that progress is under attack.
Big corporations, led by the financial services industry and debt collection agencies, don’t want to see our health system put people over profit and are doing everything in their power to stop us. We have to keep the pressure on. While we might not be able to outspend them, we know we can out organize them.
It’s time for policymakers to not cave into external pressures and big corporations and make this rule a reality to from the harms of medical debt.

The Cambodian Family Center’s dedication to providing culturally and linguistically inclusive services to our communities has empowered countless individuals. Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) parents, share your birth experiences to help improve hospital care!
This study aims to understand and improve the birth experiences and quality of care that AANHPI mothers and newborns receive during childbirth. The researchers want to interview parents whose babies were born healthy and those whose babies received care in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).
This study is open to AANHPI parents who have a child under the age of 1 year, and parents will participate in a one-time phone interview that will last about an hour.

Our 2023-2024 cohort of Project Firstline Champions have created infection prevention control (IPC) resources based on the need in their communities and healthcare workplace environments.
Topics include RSV prevention in kūpuna and keiki (the elderly and children), proper disposal of needles, and IPC best practices for cancer patients.

Social determinants of health are the conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, and worship. Examples include:
🏠 Safe housing, transportation, and neighborhoods
💥 Racism, discrimination, and violence
📚 Education, job opportunities, and income
🥫 Access to nutritious foods and physical activity opportunities
🚰 Clean air and water
🗣️ Language and literacy skills
Title X of addresses these social determinants head on because all of these factors contribute to the wide ranging health disparities and inequities that affect us all.
Title IX of prohibits discrimination in federally assisted health care services and research on the basis of s*x, race, color, national origin, marital status, familial status, or disability status.The title advocates for accountability and transparency across government departments and agencies.
There is so much innovation in health. Title VIII of addresses health equity through health IT including addressing issues like:
💻 About 22 percent of adults report using telehealth, yet persistent disparities such as broadband, technology resources, and technology literacy, remain.
💻 Language barriers in health information technology
💻 Vast differences in health IT infrastructure among communities
Title VII of addresses high-impact minority diseases through:
🦠 Expansion of research, funding, screenings, testing, access, and treatment and prevention including: cancer, hepatitis, cardiovascular diseases, HIV/AIDS, kidney disease, diabetes and obesity, and other chronic diseases
🦠 Diversity in clinical trials
🦠 Addressing Medicare coverage gaps
🦠 Improvements and outreach in Alzheimer’s disease research
🦠 Patient-centered approaches
