A couple days ago, we shared information regarding proposed changes being considered by Wyoming Game and Fish to the current Veteran tag transfer programs. We want to sincerely thank everyone who reached out asking how they could help.
After doing some additional digging, we wanted to pass along exactly how all of us can make our voices heard on this matter.
The two proposed changes we believe are most concerning can be found in Chapters 35 and 44.

Under the current program, Veterans who are rated 100% disabled through the VA are eligible to hunt 5 days prior to the season opener.
The proposed change would limit early access eligibility only to Veterans with visible disabilities, mobility disabilities, or life-threatening illnesses. Unfortunately, this would exclude many Veterans suffering from invisible wounds such as PTSD.
In our opinion, this would negatively impact a large group of Veterans who truly benefit from opportunities like these. Invisible wounds are still real wounds, and those Veterans deserve the same support and recognition as any other.

Currently, any Wyoming resident who holds a hunting tag can donate that tag to a Veteran who is rated 50% or more disabled through the VA. Many donors and Veterans build lasting relationships through this program and continue those donations year after year.
The proposed change would prevent tag holders from repeatedly donating to the same Veteran. Instead, they would be required to rotate recipients before that Veteran could become eligible again.
We believe this limits both the relationships built through the program and the freedom of Wyoming tag holders to donate their tags to the Veteran of their choosing.

For years, Wyoming has helped set the standard for how Veterans are treated and supported. Our goal is simply to help ensure they continue leading by example rather than taking a step backward.
Thank you again to everyone willing to stand beside our Veterans and help ensure their voices continue to be heard.
