Since the first five years of a child’s life are the most critical in terms of learning and development, the Library is committed to prioritizing early education services to ensure the community has access to the resources it needs to help young children from birth to five in San José become lifelong learners.

Through story time, laughter, imagination, and a love for learning, our young readers have listened to and explored 1,000 books together—an incredible milestone that helps build early literacy skills and a lifelong love of reading. 📖❤️

We’re kicking off the week with some amazing news for our youngest readers! 💛
San José Public Library is partnering with the Santa Clara County Library District to bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to families across the county! 🎉

If your child is under age 5, they can receive a FREE book every month—in English or Spanish—delivered right to your home. 💌✨
No library card required, and every child in Santa Clara County is eligible!
