For many military families, Memorial Day is deeply personal. Today we remember the lives lost in service and the families who continue to carry that absence every day. 💙 💙 💙

Today we’re honoring the mothers on our team, the mothers in our care, the mothers supporting loved ones through recovery and the mother who helped nurture Hope by the Sea into existence, Penny Carlsen.

At its core, Hope by the Sea exists because of a mother who stood beside recovery when it mattered most, helping create something that would later support countless other families facing similar struggles. We’re grateful for every mother who continues carrying that spirit forward today.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Hope by the Sea.

Telling your family, friends or colleagues that you plan to enroll in residential or outpatient treatment keeps them informed, while breaking the cycle of silence that often surrounds addiction. Even if the conversation feels awkward or embarrassing in the moment, it may be the catalyst for taking ownership of your recovery, reducing isolation and rebuilding trust. https://www.hopebythesea.com/blog/how-to-talk-to-people-about-going-to-treatment

Returning to substance use after a period of sustained sobriety can be overwhelming. You may feel discouraged or unsure what to do next. Instead of spiraling into shame or despair, remind yourself that recovery isn’t a straight line, and many people experience setbacks along the way. A proactive, self-compassionate response can help you turn a relapse into an opportunity to strengthen your recovery. https://www.hopebythesea.com/blog/what-to-do-immediately-after-a-relapse
