A week of learning and collaboration in the PSJA ISD Special Education Department! 💙📚

Our ECSE teachers and staff engaged in impactful professional learning focused on classroom strategies, including structure, routines, behavior supports, communication, accommodations, and strong teacher–paraprofessional collaboration.

Our Assessment Team strengthened their skills in Woodcock-Johnson V administration, interpretation, and test selection to support TEA-aligned evaluations.

Our Speech Team also participated in professional learning focused on speech and language supports and AAC implementation—from core language and communication partner strategies to hands-on tools for supporting students who use AAC.

Special thanks to our presenters for sharing their knowledge and expertise with our staff: Dr. Ruth De Leon, Special Education Reading Content Specialist, and Ruby Whittinghill, both from Region One ESC; Dr. Schultz; Gaby Hernandez, M.S., CCC-SLP, Bilingual AAC Consultant; and Anyssa De Leon, M.S., CCC-SLP with Tobii Dynavox. ✨

And we’re not done yet! We have many more professional learning opportunities happening throughout the rest of the week as our teams continue preparing to welcome students back into our classrooms on Monday! 📚✨

The PSJA ISD Special Education Department was proud to support our district’s Annual Best Practices Conferences, at each instructional level—Elementary, Middle School, and High School! 📚✨

Throughout the conferences, our Director, Coordinators, Learning Support Coaches, Learning Support Strategists, School Psychologists, and Diagnosticians shared their knowledge and expertise by providing meaningful training and resources to staff across the district.

These annual conferences are a great opportunity to strengthen practices, build collaboration, and ensure our staff are equipped with the tools and strategies needed to support student success at every level. 💙

We are proud to be part of a team that continues to learn, grow, and work together in support of every student, every day!

Our 15th Annual PSJA Back to School Expo is happening Thursday, August 6, 2026, at all PSJA High School campuses from 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM.

Our Expo is a one-stop shop where families can complete registration, meet campus leaders, get immunizations, and purchase uniforms all in one convenient location!

Another amazing school year is officially in the books, and what a totally rad way to celebrate! 🎸🎶⚡

Today, our Special Education Department gathered for our 80s-themed End-of-the-Year Staff Luncheon to celebrate a year filled with dedication, teamwork, and making a difference in the lives of our students. From great food and plenty of laughs to fun games, prizes, and friendly competition, the day was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the incredible people who make our department shine. 🕶️🎵🤘

A special congratulations to our Service Award recipients! 🌟 Thank you for your years of commitment, passion, and service to our students, families, and school community. Your dedication continues to make a lasting impact.

We are incredibly grateful for every member of our team and all that you do each day. Thank you for your hard work, unwavering support, and the heart you bring to special education.

Today we celebrate the amazing leaders who inspire, support, and empower our team every single day! ✨

A huge THANK YOU to our incredible bosses and accountant for all the hard work, dedication, guidance, and love you pour into our department. Your leadership does not go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for everything you do for our staff and students. 💕

They were treated to a fun afternoon filled with glam, pink vibes, and a delicious ramen bar, chocolate fountain, bouquet of beautiful flowers and gift card because the best bosses deserve the best! 🍜💄✨
