Community Impact LAB envisions a world where women and their abilities are valued, where work and life can be integrated, and where families act as a force for positive social change. We believe that by empowering families and working together to tackle challenges in real ways, everyone, especially parents, is able to live, give, and grow to their fullest potentials. Here’s how: we remove obstacle

s that often prevent families from being able to engage fully. We provide tools and resources, focus on building agency, and enable parents to participate with their kids. We strive to be a force for action and to expand opportunities parents have to be impactful. Our grassroots projects improve lives, and our families create positive changes for individuals, families, and communities. Together, we can be the rising tide that lifts all boats. Thank you Assemblymember Mia Bonta for recognizing our efforts to forward gender equality and push for intersectional racial, social, and environmental justice. It was an honor for CIL founder Xouhoa Bowen and Board Member Jessica Van Soest to receive the Equity Champions Award. There’s a lot more work to do — let’s celebrate and continue the long march.

MATCH: You Can Help Displaced Ukrainians
When you donate today, your compassionate gift will be matched by Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds — dollar for dollar. Double your impact to send lifesaving aid to Ukrainian families in need.

Even before the most recent crisis, years of violence in Ukraine have forced more than two million children, women and men from their homes and left them struggling to survive. Nearly three million people in Ukraine require immediate humanitarian assistance. Those fleeing for their lives need urgent...

Today’s holiday baby box distribution came and went in a flash! We barely had time to take pictures or a deep breath, but we did manage to do a lot of good for a lot of pregnant mamas and their babes! Over $51,000 in diapers, clothes, supplies, and presents went out to 147 families. We’re especially happy to gift supplies to clients working with wonderful community partners: aspire schools, San Lorenzo unified, 4Cs, Lotus Bloom, and more.

Huge shoutout of gratitude to the hardworking volunteers that ran up and down the parking lot giving out donations at record pace, pushing hundreds of boxes, strollers, car seats, and diapers across Bayfair and sharing holiday cheer to all of our recipients. Thank you to everyone who has donated, sorted, and given their time and energy. and and the sweetest Girl Scouts troop for your help this year!

It had been too long since our space was filled with the energy of children playing, volunteers helping make lift me up boxes, and local organizations happily picking up needed donations for their clients. ❤️

Thanks to our community, hundreds of boxes are packed for this weekend’s holiday baby shower. Toys are being wrapped for drive with and our unhoused neighbors at the Hayward shelter are receiving hundreds of pairs of shoes, clothing items, and coats.

We are grateful that your support and care allows us to keep doing this work, and keep working towards our mission every day.😁

We hope that you feel this gratitude that comes from the tips of our toes and out through this message.

THANK YOU a thousand times over for being part of the change, part of the work! ❤️

There is NO time like the present. We put things off, forget them, are reminded, feel guilty, and then get lost again.🥴

If you start now with ONE of the gratitude practice ideas we have shared, you will be that much closer to creating a gratitude practice that you treasure!🤩

🥰This practice is all about caring for and nourishing your mind, heart, and soul. Start NOW. This minute.

Taking out a card and physically writing a thank you to someone is a fantastic way to connect to gratitude. It could be for something simple or complex. 💌

It could be to ANYONE - your best friend, your child, your boss, a deceased loved one, or yourself! - and just the act of writing it will generate all those good feelings that we get with gratitude. 🥰

Even better: you don't need to send it to reap the benefits! Just writing it will give you all the good things and if you know you won't or can't send it, you can let go of any worries about grammar, phrasing, or getting it just right.

Yet another Gratitude SUPERPOWER: connecting the parts of our lives and ourselves. 🦸🏽‍♀️

If you're reading this, take a moment for this gratitude.
Can you think of THREE Things that you are grateful for right now? 🤔

-Comfortable shoes?
-A good cup of coffee?
-A working vehicle?
-The ability to pay your essential bills?
-Health of your family members?
-Getting yourself to bed earlier last night?
-Getting your laundry done?

Whatever they are - big or small - let them feel real and have that experience wash over you.

See how it affects how you feel right now and how you feel the rest of your day! 🙌

One of the hardest things about building habits - including a gratitude practice - is figuring out how to help yourself do them.🤭

One strategy for that is to attach the habit to something you already do and you're pretty sure that you won't forget. 😊

🦷So if you set the intention to think about what you are grateful for during the 2 minutes that you are brushing your teeth it not only makes it easy to do (multitasking while brushing is tough!) but helps you remember to do it at all. 🤓

When we see the good around us and are in a better mood, we see more good around us and we want to contribute more to that. 🎁

So when we practice gratitude, we are more powerful forces for good in the world around us. 💝

And who doesn't want to be that person in their families or their communities? 🧑🏽‍🤝‍🧑🏼

While we have made the distinction between appreciation and gratitude, it is worth noting that all authentic appreciations are gratitudes. 🥰

If you have a role where you facilitate meetings of any kind, taking the extra few minutes to share gratitudes either at the beginning or the end of a meeting can help people connect with one another authentically, create a sense of shared positivity, and set the tone for whatever comes next. 😃

We do want to note that this is different than appreciations where people share something they appreciated about someone in the group). An appreciations practice can also be amazing, and it feels important to differentiate.

While the thinking as to why is not as clear as with other findings, knowing that gratitude makes us healthier is another huge incentive to develop and maintain a gratitude practice. 😁

We don't know many parents or adults who wouldn't welcome more and better sleep! 😷
