At the end of the August 7th filing deadline at 5:00pm, I was locked in as the only candidate in the race for San Leandro’s District 2 City Councilmember. This means that my name will be the only one on the ballot before District 2 voters on November 3rd, and as such I will automatically qualify for the two year short-term on the City Council. I’m excited and deeply honored for the opportunity to serve for two years and settle in to the job that I love so dearly🍒

I’m very grateful to all of my supporters, including a majority of the City Council, Assemblymember Liz Ortega, Senator Aisha Wahab, and many others in the San Leandro and greater community, for the love and energy as I continue my campaign for City Council. I’m excited to continue to announce endorsers and supports up until November!

It’s easy for electeds to celebrate in an unopposed election and forget the purpose: it’s an opportunity to use the sole spot on the ballot to introduce yourself to those who don’t know you. I fully intend to, while not as major of an operation as I would run in a regular campaign, continue to run - including events and community gatherings. As the Councilmember who is still very very new, I feel an obligation to build relationships in District 2 and introduce myself. It’s what District 2 deserves after a legnth of time without authentic representation.

Onward from here, I will be sponsoring proposals in collaboration with other Councilmembers for transformative measures for safety, security, and economic development in District 2. I’m looking forward to sharing more. Please also follow my Substack for monthy updates! Find my updates here: https://substack.com/📝

I’m grateful for the endorsement of San Leandro Mayor Juan Gonzalez!⭐️ I'm grateful to work beside Juan. What I ask of a Mayor is responsiveness and care - Juan embodies both, and is a role model for constituent outreach and communication. I'm excited to continue working beside him.
